He is 16-18 and can actually finish his third season above .500 with a bowl win. Some achievement.

I'd say he is a happy man. His plan is working, he has a real pro as his AD, the Dome is filling up, he will have new digs soon and the whole town adores him. Drive around and his face is everywhere!

Perhaps the most important thing is he is in a great conference and he knows that if Clemson can win a NC from the ACC so can Syracuse. He is a few plays away from being in the CFP conversation and he is playing with only half his own players.

Anything can happen of course, but I don't think he is going anywhere.

Addazio is barely over .500 after 6 years in Beantown. Anyone doubt we have the right man for the job? Babers will not be looking back in the rebuild mirror.

I think Dino is solid here until some really blue bloods come calling and I mean real blue bloods. Probably 5-6 spots. Just the way it is. It would take a special very special type dude to stay when those types calling. I don’t buy for a second that USC will hire some USC retread like DelRio

He is NOT going to USC
We really need to stop with this BS
They will hire either a USC guy or a HUGE target
I'm not disagreeing with you and think USC will go with a USC guy but who in your opinion is a huge target?

Right

Only Les Miles out there as big fish. Unless they lure Pete back

Jeff Fisher
Brian Kelly
Pete Carroll
(^I'm not saying any would take the job)
and more I'm sure I don't know about that they would contact even before they got on the page Dinos name shows up on the list.

It’s also BS people thinking there’s no chance he leaves for another job at some point. Who makes you the authority on this? You have no contacts with DB so you have no clue whether he’ll leave SU like he has every other single job he’s ever had. Maybe he will, maybe he won’t but you don’t know any better than anyone else.

I'm curious whether there's this kind of endless hand-wringing about their coach leaving on the Iowa State or Washington State or West Virginia sites? I know, I know. I should just ignore those threads but it seems like 90% of the conversations on here devolve into this will he or won't he talk. It's boring.

I'm not sure who pissed you off and then you felt the need to take it out on me
I was just simply stating he is not going to USC
Sure he could leave for other schools

Gotcha. My bad, I misinterpreted your overall meaning. Sorry.

Some people don't handle success very well...

He's not going anywhere, I'm the arbiter of where Dino goes, so when I say he's not going anywhere I do it with the full authority of that office FIGHT ME

Your avatar tells me, you have full authority.

I think some may be in denial. There won’t be a hotter commodity for P5 college football programs than Dino Babers What he has done here will be perceived as a miracle, the last time we showed progress our coach went to the NFL and Dino is a much bigger package with much brighter bow.

It’s just a question as to what jobs open up and what Dino wants to do but he will be in very high demand and some really big programs will want to hire him. Don’t kid yourself that USC won’t want to hire him if they fire their coach because they will, proven track record, charismatic, swagger, progressive S&C program with a solid group of assistants, well known recruiter, proven offensive system and roots in southern California. Like I said I have no idea what’s he’s going to do but nobody thought marrone was an NFL head coach either until he was. Not saying he’s leaving but the choice will be all his.

Will be a miracle to keep him long term.

Outside of Brian Kelly I think Dino is a bigger target then a failed retread like Fisher. Like IB said right above what Babers has done here has made him a hot commodity similar to Tom Herman when he was at Houston.

I respectfully disagree with the concept that HCDB chases money. Yes, he may do so. However, to think that money is the sole issue in a decision is very narrowminded. Further, it is a decision that is made by those who are young (impulsive), greedy, and/or those who know they are punching above their weight (Petrino).

Yes, HCDB will be on the short list of every major P5 program (Rutgers, Maryland and Louisville are NOT major programs, though he may be on their fantasy lists). The risks of going to a USC, Bama, tOSU, UM, and a few others is that they demand championship appearances and wins or you are fired. If they fail, there is not much hope of a great job in the P5 elsewhere - they either cost too much or have lost any shine that got the elite job in the first place.

There are far more factors than money that go into making a decision to uproot yourself and move and take on another rebuild. Especially as you grow older. HCDB has built a winning program, he will be sought after, but rest assured, he is no Petrino where you flash a few more bucks and he is gone faster than a New York second.

I believe SU will make a good offer to HCDB. I believe other will pursue him. My guess is that HCDB stays. He has built a winner, he has established himself and his family in the area. I know he has some time on the west coast, he has family in L.A., etc., etc. etc. Yet, few people can understand that at some point, even the rolling stone wants to gather moss.

Anyway, just my opinion.

Im very worried about USC. If they offer he will accept. Other than them he will stay.

Les Miles has been out of coaching for two years and has not really gained anyone’s interest. Have to think there’s a reason for that.

Maybe because he’s at retirement age?

And Jeff Fisher is 60, and is meathead even by NFL standards.

So is this all about being able to say "I told you so" down the line? Otherwise, I don't see the point. In any case, position noted. You will be back-patted at a later stage.
