They had 3 centers and probably a 4th working there I don’t know about. Heckel, Servais, Durieg. Heckel and Durieg got hurt.
Doesn't seem like they were ever considering starting Duerig

thats why he was 3rd string. And since V moved there no doubt Duerig hasn’t caught up because he’s been back.

So him getting hurt didn't matter. Either way, Servais was our backup option. We need to have multiple options next year (not including Servais) at C, so this doesn't happen again. We can't let 1 injury paralyze our whole O-Line.

mo doubt we need depth across the whole OL. But on the big picture this year with what we have, it became the perfect storm. We lost 3 seniors from last year including both starting OTs. Replacing both starting OTs was tough as it is. Then when Heckel went down, it caused 3 OL positions to then use the “back up”. C, LT, RT. That and those 2 senior OTs being gone caused a whole lot of issues especially since a lot of our more promising guys are/were young. Barring more unfortunate injuries I expect a big improvement next year.

Already seeing some improvement..

I'm just happy to have seen the occasional formation of a passing pocket the last couple of games. If the O line can build off that, they may have something next year.
