My USC brethren LOVE him. Lots of talk on the Fight On Forum giving him props and hoping he is a candidate. The level of disgust (and with good reason) with Clay Helton and his rube buddies on the staff is like a tidal wave of negative force.

Going to be tough to fire Helton when he is winning 9-11 games most years, Boosters hate him because he lacks charisma and loses out of conference but I still think he's going to be around longer than most USC fans want. The fact is he has been better than any other coach they have had in 30-40 years not names Pete Carroll

They know the Pete Carroll Era is long gone.
They have atleast one WTH loss every year. They aren’t underachieving this year they had road games at Stanford and Texas not many teams would even split that especially with a true Freshman QB who should be a HS Senior.

I think Dino was a around a 2.8 on that scale before the season started and has moved down to about a 2. So yes, his seat is cooling.

USC fans aren’t that bad. They don’t even fill up the Colliseum every game. It’s a very corporate alumni gathering at games.

They know the Pete Carroll Era is long gone.
They have atleast one WTH loss every year. They aren’t underachieving this year they had road games at Stanford and Texas not many teams would even split that especially with a true Freshman QB who should be a HS Senior.
They aren’t firing Helton this year.

You guys are missing the point. It’s the cavalier/laissez-faire attitude there now. Darnold masked a lot of flaws too. After Bama/Clemson/Georgia/OSU, who has had the next best recruiting classes in terms of aggregate rankings the past five years? USC. The product isn’t translating to on the field performance. Players are calling out the coaching staff about lack of details and not practicing hard enough! We can’t line up against any powerhouse P5 team and not get physically overwhelmed now. -5 rushing yards @ Texas. After ALL the penalties against WSU and Helton swearing they would clean it up, what happens? 18 penalties against Arizona! 169 yards of them! In a hostile atmosphere Clay says. Lol, right Clay. “Hostile” at Arizona is a joke. The fans were all gone by H. Dan Weber is calling out the staff in recent articles. They are only having two practices on this current bye week when they truly need to clean stuff up. 3-4 more C/Daniels botched snaps last week. Daniels is fantastic, btw. So was Darnold running for his life constantly. Continued non-full contact in practice. No pads. Well what happens when we have to line up 4th and 1 at the goaline? We get blown up and pushed back. Helton coddles everyone and tells all how good of a job the players and staff are doing. They devote extra time to ST every week. The punting hasn’t improved much from that debacle at Texas where they punted 6 times for a 31yd average. Helton and his staff of former Conference USA rubes should be gone now but if they can’t win the garbage PAC-12 S, then there will be no other choice but to get rid of him.

8-9 wins he's safe, IMO. Tough to hire quality replacement when the guy fired has won say 30 games in 3 years. Only a matter of time before Chip Kelly gets it going at UCLA as well. I know it looks bad now but he will right the ship over there, there is a guy that needs to recruit a specific type of kid, He's kind of lost his mind

Maybe. It’s that every phase of the game is a GD joke. 18 penalties against freaking Arizona after he swore to correct the issues from the week before. Constant light practices, no physicality, puny RBs on Washington St and Arizona carrying our LB/S for rides. Goes beyond the W/L. I mean players are BEGGING for tougher and better practices to the media! What is that, lol? All of this with Top 5 talent. This is unacceptable anyway you slice it. We would get slaughtered in the Big 10 or SEC. USC is good enough to beat the Colorado/Utah/Arizona teams. ND will beat them by 30+ then the vultures will circle even more than they already are. And they are.

You don’t get it either. I’ve illustrated countless examples of what is going on behind the scenes. Getting embarrassed against any P5 team now is the norm. They looked like a JV team physically against Texas. Last year too but Darnold saved them. Players are begging for tougher/better practices to the media, lol! They can’t snap the ball, all the penalties, -5 yards rushing @ Texas, etc. The program is in complete disarray. Lynn Swann doesn’t seem to mind either. Dan Weber is one of the most respected beat writers in the country. An old-timer who tell it like it is. This illustrates how bad things are.

My cousin is a booster at USC. He works at WB and told me USC should do better but the problems there stem from AD office that is always split into many factions who stab each other to get there’s. Pete Carroll was able to succeed because he had the AD eating out of his hand.
While since him the last 3 coaches haven’t been able to do that.

Even a factory like USC is going to suffer when you make hires like Kiffin, Sarkisian and now Helton. They should have driven a Brink's truck over to Chris Petersen, but they ended up with Sarkisian who's issues off the field at UW were not exactly a secret and were sure to blow up in USCs face. and it did. But, oh, he was a USC guy. dumb dumb dumb

Yeah but those were the right moves. They hired the wrong guys. Just like Pat Haden hired the wrong guys and kept the country club/family going. Babers would have the team rolling. Solich was also failing like Pasqualoni. There’s a reason why he’s still in the MAC since like 05.

Yep. Pat Haden set the program back big time. Swann gave Helton an extension after the OSU debacle! Unbelievable.
