totally agree. you never know what jobs will open, but to me this is the one potential opening that would be worrisome. Places like UCLA, Arizona etc that were good fits are not going to open after 1 year.

They can’t fire if he goes 8-4 with a true Freshman QB barring a scandal.
That would be crazy.
USC lost a lot from last year including Ronald Jones with Darnold.
Barring from a complete meltdown Helton gets another year atleast.

We cannot physically out tough ANY P5 power type team. Losing Ronald Jones is not an excuse when you have 5* guys like Stephen Carr and Aca’Cedric Ware next in line. Same scenario say at Georgia when Chubb/Michel are replacing Gurley. You reload at USC or at least should be. 9 penalties against WSU. Helton promises those will be corrected. Well the following week they get 18 against a bad Arizona team and nearly collapse. It’s not good football and obviously unacceptable. Those are just a few of the issues behind the scenes who outsiders don’t understand by just looking at records. They SHOULD be in the bowls every year because they play in the PAC-12 South! Wow, beating the Colorados and Arizonas is sure something to be proud of, lol. Again, players are going to the media calling out the practices and staff! That should be sirens going off, red flags, etc., that something is obviously terribly wrong. It’s unbelievable what’s going on truly. Give me a freaking break and get rid of this guy already.

I get what you are saying. The coach is a lightweight. You just have to wait for a 6-6 year to can him.
If he goes 8-4 and looking at USC’s schedule that is my guess as @Oregon State is my guess for the WTH loss.

Sorry. Just extremely frustrated watching the product on the field. No details, lollygagging around, no discipline, no physicality. Syracuse would handle them without blitzing and Dungey would pick them apart with this legs and arm. The secondary is so bad also.

Solich’s firing by Nebraska is a prime example of an idiot AD canning a good coach. You should hope Clay Helton is more Frank Solich than Bill Callahan.

Solich won 58 games in 6 friggjn seasons.

If Pasqualoni was “failing” like Frank Solich he’d have coached at SU for over 20 years.

The same response would be happening at Georgia or OSU if they are committing 18 penalties in a game or players going to the media BEGGING for tougher practices. This is not “spoiled football factory fans.” It’s football 101 and incompetence at the top. Give me a break...we play the Colorados and Arizonas then get blown about against good P5 competition with Top 5 recruiting classes. Dan Weber is calling out the staff for god’s sake. The Herm Edwards experiment will be interesting to watch. I have to imagine he can recruit and that he will given a few years. I am rooting for him only because everybody hated the hire so much.

Big game tomorrow between CU and ASU.

I am a little nervous on this one. ASU has San Diego State's old Defensive Coordinator and have possibly the nation's best receiver and a good running game. We have a receiver that may also be considered the best in the nation but we are BAD on the O and D line.

I am more concerned about USC and the week after that we play at Washington, which has me "throw me the Immodium and a fresh pair of pants" scared.

Quite possible. BTW, how good is this Phillip Lindsay? I didn’t really even notice him at CU. He’s stronger than he looks, obviously fast, and quite versatile.

I have heard from some people that I know that Dino is the top name for the USC east coast alumni club.

USC would be 1 of the handful of jobs I would be very worried about.

As far as ever being on the heat seat? I don't think anybody in Syracuse ever had him on the hot seat? It was evident last year that this program was changing for the better. People outside saw the back to back 4-8, but we saw the difference in Babers year 2 vs Shafer year 2 and 3

Maybe the solution is recruiting guys with "chips on their shoulders" a la SU, vs. 5* primadonnas.
