Dino Press Conference | Aug. 24

I don’t remember him saying they were injured. He did indicate there probably will be changes in position groups after a month.
He also said that with black, Williams, Jonathan and linton rushing on a pass play the qb had 4.6 seconds to throw the ball. To me that is a massive improvement from last year. Last year I do not think TD had 2 seconds on a number of pass plays.
If Td can’t send ball in a quick offense before 4.6 sec then we may be in trouble . Shouldn’t most throws be 2 to 3 sec

Hit the transfer market ASAP... Has to be. A few lineman from the BIG or PAC than want to play now...

Didn't have time to listen just read the highlights where that part said it, planning on listening tomorrow at some point.

We have been unable so far to get Bleich made eligible, but you think we could get BIG transfers? WOW that is really optimistic.

It could only be a grad transfer and we would have to have a spot open idk if we do . Also no way to learn the scheme camp is over

I would think some grad transfers would flee in a nano second. Or find a few all FBS starters that play in similar scheme

Astounded that Bleich has not been given a decision yet. But do we even know if he has recovered from his injury?

Beats me, but you can see him in a green no contact jersey, if you look closely at some pics.

okay. So I might revise some of my statements in this thread just a little. I'll back off the negativity train for just a moment.

The write up on Dino's comments came across much more negative than watching the interview. Dino was actually pretty upbeat talking about his offensive line and how they held up on one play in particular.

I think the reference to linemen being out may have more to do with linemen that we already knew were making their way back, D Davis ...and not so much fresh injuries.

Dino is saying if we can get good play with who we have right now, the line will only improve as the season progresses. Much more positive and encouraging than the write up lets on

That was my impression when I watched the video.
Shocking that the local paper puts a negative spin on Dino’s statements.
My other statement. Can any of these reports ask about the 3-3-5 or any additional questions not Covid related?

Yeah but there’s also comments from people in the know that paint a more sobering reality, so I guess we’ll see once the coin is in the air.

Folks this would be potentially tough year for Tommy even with Bleich in the fold. With a few oline plus Bleich out we will just need to look at this as a critical development year for Dino and the boys. Run the ball with a heavy dose of Howard, Adams and Elemore and some special play calls for Jordan (172 pounds). Elemore is in to also mask protection for Tommy who Tommy will definitely want as protection.
Lots of 3 step and roll outside for TD to help keep him healthy and let's see our #2 QB for some reps. Goal is for healthy development on offense and defense in what is seemingly going to be a broken season. OC and DC need concepts integrated this season.

With all seniors being able to play and get an additional year this season is extremely important for Syracuse. It provides us with an extra year to develop players, dial in the new O and D schemes and provide the staff a chance to gel.

Which people in the know?

I’m a little confused. All I heard from people on the board is how the line really came together the last three games. Well we return four starters. Somehow we loose a guard in Adams and it’s the lines awful.
I have had concerns for the line for a long time but if Dino gives some positive talk I’ll go with it. Dino never oversells a position unit so I’ll take the positive at this point until I see something different on the field.

"There are offensive linemen out that will not return until mid season."

Translation: these offensive linemen will be out the year.

We are screwed this year. There are so many signs pointing to it, it's ridiculous:
Schedule
Offensive line injuries
Starters looking to opt out

This is just disastrous

But on the positive side: I've come to peace (at least for this year) with the fact that it looks inevitably bad. If college football is played through the entire season, that will be a win for everyone, win or lose on the field

Maybe not. From the article...

“Some of these injuries, some of the guys that got hurt ... we’re going to get some offensive linemen back in late September, early October that is really going to be able to change the depth of this group.

“So it’s not so much of can we go through the entire season with these amount of guys, it’s almost like can you survive four weeks with these amount of guys because if you can survive four weeks, you’re going to have some reinforcements coming over the hill that make you a lot better.”
