Dino / Wax / Shrader Game 13 Press Conference | Pinstripe / Minnesota

Babers walks into the presser wearing an Aaron Judge New York Yankees jersey. Says SU is fired up to play in the Bronx.

Babers on the advantages to playing in a bowl: “Yes it gives us extra practices, yes it allows us to bring young recruits in.”

Babers on if he’s heard about players opting-out: “I’ve had conversations with all the players. Some of them are still thinking about things.”

Babers on quarterback Garrett Shrader’s future: “Conversations have gone really well with Garrett. He’s said some things, but I feel really good about it.”

Babers on SU getting healthier ahead of the bowl: “We may get some guys back who we lost during the season.”

Babers on running back Sean Tucker’s physical development: “That guy’s got muscles everywhere. What he looks like right now, he is WWF ready. Whether his last game is with us or he’s already played his last game, he’s going to have an amazing NFL career.”

Babers has finished addressing the media. Now, linebacker Marlowe Wax and quarterback Garrett Shrader are set to speak.

Wax on SU’s finish to the year: “The way the season ended wasn’t good. But this 13th game is going to be really fun.”

Wax says he suspected the Orange were bound for the Pinstripe Bowl and that he’s excited to be in NYC around Christmas time.

Wax on Minnesota running back Mohamed Ibrahim: “That’s my boy. He’s from Baltimore. We’re not going to back down. I played against him once in high school. He was talk of the town.”

Wax on SU’s transformation from 2020 to now: “You look back and you get happy about it, but you appreciate it happened. You’ve had lulls and you appreciate all the highs you have right now.”

Shrader on playing in the Pinstripe Bowl: “There’s still a big feeling of underachievement because of injuries. Time to get this ship back the right way.”

Shrader on returning to Syracuse: “As of right now, absolutely. I plan to finish my college career here.” Says the plan is to return next season and that “a lot” of guys are coming back.

Shrader on the importance of a bowl to the veterans: “The stranger things here are the guys in my class have never played in a bowl game here. We want to have the guys that are leaving to go out on a high note.”

Shrader on the offense moving forward: “When I got banged up, it totally changed the identity of our offense. Going into next year, it’s changing the way we want to recruit.”

Shrader on wideouts who hit the portal: “We lost a lot of talented guys who felt they weren’t contributing. Guys will play in the bowl game who didn’t play a lot at the start of the year. Dan Villari and LeQuint Allen are guys I’m excited to get the ball.”

I love that GS is mentioning Villari as someone he's excited to get the ball too. I think every poster and their mother see's this guy as someone who has the athleticism and talent to be that pass catching TE we sorely need.

Absolutely. And to be fair to the staff, Villari has been a QB and needed time to learn a completely different position. This wasn’t a big receiver moving to tight end. Pass blocking, run blocking and route running are all skills he needed to learn and perfect. Really excited moving forward.

GS: “Going into next year it is changing how we recruit.” Interesting comment. Does that speak to the increase in Oline we have seen offered since the season ended? Does that a guy like Sellers has a chance of moving to QB #2 coming in given his style better matches GS? Again interesting commen.

Best looking jersey in all of sports.
Demonstrably false.

  • After watching the interview, feel better about Shrader returning next year. He seems to be chomping at the bit for next season.
  • How do the announcers not ask Wax about next year?
  • If I had a dollar for every time Tortora asks, what does it tell you when...or what does player A mean to you/this team, I could singlehandedly take care of NIL for this team

You'd have to think that if Tucker was playing in the bowl and/or returning next year that he would have been included in this presser no?

if you can't handle Tortora's hard hitting style, that is your problem, buddy

not necessarily, but I would still bet against him playing in the bowl if I had to make a bet, and there is basically no chance he is coming back next year

Demonstrably false.

we had these for a few years as our team softball jersey cause the guy running the team was an Astos fan . We sure stood out when there were 10+ teams milling around the fields on game days..

The comment says nothing about Sellers.

To be fair, for some of his interviews he gets more out of players than Matt Park.
