Dino's Game 11 Press Conference for NC State: 11 AM

“Obviously we’re disappointed about what happened last week… We’ve got to get back to playing football. We weren’t physical, that bothers me.” - Babers on the Louisville loss.

"Not enough fight, not enough struggle, not enough clawing and scratching.” - Babers on what specifically went wrong this past Saturday.

Babers emphasizes the lack of physicality on offense as that unit’s biggest issue at Louisville. There were some mental mistakes in terms of making the right checks, but winning at the point of contact is the more pressing change to make.

Babers on the passing game: “We need to get better. There’s no doubt about it. The last two weeks were not acceptable.”

Axe asked him about the targeting. Dino says the call was legit.

“You’re talking about one of our team leaders, one of our MVP’s, one of our captains. I told him, the way he hit that young man was not safe FOR HIM.” - Babers on the hit that got Mikel Jones ejected due to targeting.

Babers said the offensive shift this year hasn’t affected recruiting. SU still values the same traits that it did, including bringing in pocket-passing QBs as long as they meet expectations.

"Practice will be extremely interesting on Tuesday"

Dino Babers said he tried to pull Sean Tucker and Garrett Shrader in the fourth quarter at Louisville. Tucker asked to go back in — the first time Babers said they’ve had a significant conversation in-game ever. Babers decided that he wouldn’t put Tucker back in without Shrader and the starting OL. Babers doesn’t believe Tucker was number-chasing and he emphasized that as a player’s coach, he’ll always hear his guys out.

Babers said he doesn’t expect to take a huge number of transfers this upcoming offseason, but the staff is mindful of the projected experience breakdown as current players transfer out.

No updates on Elmore.

Babers said QB transfer Dillon Markiewicz made his decision “the right way” and wished him the best. Dino said his pitch toward pocket passers in the future will be around Jimmy G’s success at Eastern Illinois. Still thinks this offense can work around any talented QB.

If I was Dino, I would’ve skipped today’s press conference. I’d be too embarrassed. Screw whatever requirement he has to attend.

He said he pulled Tucker and Shrader, but Tucker came and had a conversation with him. Wanted to get back in the game, not to break records, but for "unbelievable reasons". So he put tucker back in. And if Tucker was going back in, then Shrader was going back in. And if Shrader was going back in, the Oline was going back in. Said it was the first time in 2 years that tucker had a conversation with him during a game

These questions are all over the map. Someone asked him about Ernie Davis, someone else asked him about Markus Paul. Dino says he never even met Markus Paul.

Tucker is a leader. He's not going to abandon his teammates even when we're losing by 4 scores.
Dino’s a coach, he shouldn’t play his star leader in the fourth down several touchdowns. I respect Tucker and his passion, but we pay Dino to have the team’s wellbeing in mind during these situations. Obviously my opinion doesn’t matter but Im not impressed with the explanation

Jimmy G will be a Grandfather soon:)

Kind of wish Dino would stop selling the Jimmy G thing. Different level football. I get thats his most successful QB, but still a tough sell given his 7 years at SU and the results we have seen.
It is weird at this point. That wasn't at SU and it was 2013, which is a lifetime ago. Plus he has been a one hit wonder in the NFL so far. Not like he is Josh Allen.

Eh, “coach, I know we’re getting killed but I want to show leadership by fighting until the end”

“As long as it’s with our QB and best OL”

Seems rather healthy

Josh Allen hasn’t played in a super bowl
true, but wasn't Jimmy G widely known as the weak link and the reason his team was unlikely to win. He was the modern day Trent Dilfer who lost.

Also, not trying to bash Jimmy, just not sure the benefits of selling him to SU recruits. I could def be wrong though. I know nothing. :)

I guess. I don’t remember that.

I’m of the mind if you coached a FCS kid who QBd a super bowl team, you get to bring him up

The recruits probably have no idea who he is anyway. Selling a guy they don’t know that isn’t a name brand in the NFL is reaching.

What a joke! Such horrendous conduct & decision making from a person in such position/authority.

That's like telling your child while you are two feet away from him, not to have any sweets before dinner. And, you watch him do it right in front of you and say, well, if you're going to do that, then all of your siblings can too. Good grief!

He missed one pass long and that sealed his reputation
