Dino's Game 3 Press Conference for Ga Tech

Babers on the running backs: "They all have a role, we have enough carries to divide between all those guys" Sean Tucker saw his first action over the weekend

Babers says it will be interesting to get into the "new look" Dome

"The big thing is, we're going to play the best guy" Babers on the QBS. There's no doubt Rex has his packages, he'll play but Tommy's still the starter

Babers on why the defense is ahead of the offense: "Generally speaking your defense is going to be ahead of your offense, that is, unless you have an experienced offense going into the season."

Babers on Georgia Tech coming to the Dome this week: "These guys are good. They already beat Florida State on the road and played very well against a terrific UCF team. They can match up with a lot of people with their skill alone."

Babers on the development of this #Syracuse team through two games: "We've just got to keep chopping wood."

Babers on the development with his young RB's: "They're running hard. The way they're running the football, I'm encouraged."

Babers on his OC Sterlin Gilbert: "You have two guys that are used to success. You can only change so much, so fast. Coach Gilbert's work ethic is unmatched and we're going to get this thing done."

Babers on no fans at the Dome this weekend: "Being in there with 45,000 people is like being somewhere else with 90,000. It's so loud there. It's a place where you get a bunch of people on top of each other." Recalls Clemson win and not being able to hear reporter ask questions

On why he didn't use any timeouts vs Pitt on last drive: "I was going to use them if we got a third down stop." They were down 11 with 4 mins left, Panthers ran out the clock. Needed a stop, score, onside kick and another score. Babers wanted the TOs for the offense.

Babers on the defense responding to the 3-3-5 under Tony White: "Tony White's a good coach. I'm not gonna apologize for having a good defense. I'm excited about it, I'm just waiting for the offense and special teams to catch up."

Dino on being a part of history with the new Dome roof: "We're going to practice in the Dome on Thursday morning so our younger guys can see it. I'm going to be excited to see it. I'll feel bad that I won't be sweating since the AC will be on."

Babers on COVID-19 testing and any positive tests thus far: "We're not able to talk about that stuff..." *nods head side-to-side*

Babers on the offensive issues he was anticipating going into 2020: "I've never anticipated anything like this. I've never experienced anything like this. As the personnel and lineups change (top 2 RB's opting out and OL Bleich having to sit), you need to adjust and change."

Babers on why DeVito's struggling through two games: "I wouldn't say he's struggling. Everybody is barely missing on stuff. It looks big to everyone else but not to us."

Dino on being known as an 'offensive guy' and having to watch the #Syracuse offense struggle: "Frustration comes with the job. I'm looking forward to the day when we come out of the clouds and exit the smoke. Let's play some really good football that we can be excited about."

I know he should not criticize his players but to say the offense is not struggling is ridiculous. To say everybody is Barely Missing is not true. Anyone watching the videos all see the problems. I know he wants to be upbeat but I would have preferred him to say we see the problems and adjustments will be made at every position until we find the right pieces.

Just missing is losing by a late FG like we did 2 years ago when Pitts no name kicker became Gary Anderson. We had 32 passing yards on Sat, 32!!! The whole thing we just missed was Rutgers record of negative passing yards. Dino is just giving a coach-speak answer I hope because if not were in a world of trouble.

I felt like they were barely missing at UNC. Last week seemed like a regression from that.

Agree. I never liked the first game to second game analogy anyway.

Going back to the new Dome is a chance to regroup. I wouldn't be surprised if they spent all last week hearing about/reading about Pitt's DL and the challenges they would bring.

This week, lesser D, friendly confines, let's see what they can do. I don't think we'll score 30, but I bet we can score over 20. Odd thing to hope for in this era of offensive football, I know. And if our D keeps it up, we can get the first W.

If this week is another 9 or 10 point output, then it's going to be hard to expect much more than that this year.

I am actually surprised that he mentioned Rex will play. It is not like Rex offers a big difference in skill set from Tommy. This makes me think he has lost some confidence in TD and is using the "packages" to back door switching to Rex when needed. Which kind of saves face for your starter.

Yeah I am hoping for some positive signs on Saturday. Sustained drives with some balance to hopefully open things up and let the D catch their breath. D will only look better if the O at least shows even a pulse

"Babers wanted the TOs for the offense"

Huh?? I would never pretend to know an ounce of football compared to Babers. However, saving timeouts for the offense is just plain stupid (and he knows that). At least on O you can do something about stopping the clock. He has still failed to answer for throwing in the towel other than it was highly unlikely we were going to win. That is still unacceptable today as much as it was on Saturday.

I'd like someone to ask the question a little differently... something like, even if it is highly unlikely (like winning the lottery), what message do you think it sends your team and diehard SU fans when you don't even try at the end?

That all said, we need so badly to win on Saturday to get all of this crud behind us. Sadly though, this is a stain on Babers that only comes off through wins.
