Dino's Game 6 Press Conference for Wake: 11 AM

"Taj and I had a conversation before the game, and I talked to him after the game. We spoke in great detail, and he decided the best opportunity was to enter the transfer portal. We wish him the best."

Babers declines to go into detail on those conversations. Also declines to expand on any message he or team leaders have tried to get across to the locker room during a rocky section of the season.

Babers said he can’t expand on why P James Williams didn’t travel to Tallahassee. Didn’t respond to whether he’ll be available versus Wake Forest.

Babers said he told QB Tommy DeVito something from the heart in a conversation since last week. No details. Says for a second week that DeVito will be made available for interview (he wasn’t last week).

Babers says none of his injured players are gone for the year. With G/T Darius Tisdale suffering a lower-body injury at FSU, freshman Kalan Ellis is a candidate to see more playing time.

Babers calls the interception by Duce Chestnut, "exceptional." "I have not seen it done before. It was a very very unique play," Babers said. "To be able to make the catch he made and letting his elbows hit the ground first is exceptional."

Babers said he did send the non-holding call on LB Marlowe Wax at the end of the FSU game into the ACC office for review. No response yet. Babers said he thought was got “yanked.” Knows holding occurs on most plays, but said it should be called when it affects an outcome.

Babers on QB Garrett Shrader’s play at Florida State: “l thought he had a real solid performance. I thought he was a lot better than a week before.”

Don't let the door hit you on the way out

Spot freaking on.

It was a horrible non-call, a game changing non-call - one that handed the home team an undeserved victory.

This wasn't a situation where it could have been called like on every other play, but maybe wasn't. It was a blatant grab on a running play that popped for big yardage PRECISELY because our LB wasn't just held, but grabbed. Given that it occurred right in front of the ball carrier, where the officials SHOULD have been looking, it is inexcusable that it wasn't called.

Glad to hear this..

Not sure with all of Taj's antics how Dino didn't kick him off of the team. Then this year he goes to the ACC media days. Now he leaves.

I'm sure Dino's message to the ACC office went straight to the trash bin...but at least we tried.

Totally disagree that it went straight to the trash. I am positive that the boys in Greensboro grabbed some coffee and donuts, gathered in a circle, ran the whole thing through a shredder, urinated on it, and then dumped it in the trash. Tobacco Road has SOPs for this sort of thing.

Nah, they wouldn't pee on it. They'd get more pleasure by jerking off to it.

This is such an inflection point in the season: cuse either prevails in the face of adversity or implodes. I mean, how the hell does the punter not make the trip? That alone was huge.

Babers and the leaders need to pull this damn thing together.

I hope they cc'd Commissioner Phillips. I don't sense he'll put us with that degree of buffoonery, nor the illusion that the ACC's NC Mafia lives on. He has to squelch that to a degree. And other influential schools grapple with it too.

I’m worried that Dino will lose this locker room if they lose a couple more games in a row, you already hear rumblings about it now.

Do you have inside info? What rumblings. Coaches made couple bad calls last game but we have been in every game. Liberty went our way, FSU /?Rutgers did not. Not sure why players would be upset at this point.

Just a guess, no inside info, but I think there may be some good to come out of these first five games/weeks.

I think this team has a real opportunity to come together and surprise some folks. Lot of young guys that have real talent and it seems like they are starting to figure things out.

Yeah, it may not be for everyone, but I think the majority will stay in the boat on this. Just need a few more plays to break our way and get a W this week.

You can't really make that assessment until the season is complete. And, you're projecting the rest of the season from your own perspective that probably isn't even close to how the team feels or will feel. Your binary outcome scenario also doesn't allow for different outcomes based on how a loss might unfold or the fact that a team of 100 players will all react as one. There is a potential huge swing of emotions between losing 52-3 and losing by 3 in a back and forth game that comes down to the end.

As for the punter, you make it seem like he missed the flight - that his absence was something unplanned. It was likely a discipline issue and Babers left him off the travel squad, i.e. suspended him. Besides, we brought 2 others. Disciplinary action is a method of "pulling the damn thing together", whatever that means.

He could be injured or sick. Or not sick and in stupid Quarantine. There's a few reasons not to make the trip.

And you heard this how? From your cousin whose wife knows somebody who is a janitor in the football complex who overheard players talking?
