Dino's Game 6 Press Conference | UNC

“We have to put this one to bed and move forward.” - Babers on Saturday’s 31-14 loss to Clemson.

Barron: No update. Hopefully he's OK.

WR's are week-to-week.

Villari should be OK.

“This will be the best quarterback we’ve played this year.” - Babers on UNC QB Drake Maye. “He’s accurate, tough, and mobile.”

“Whoever’s going to suit up is going to suit up.” Babers on the status of OL Kalan Ellis and Joe More.

“He changed his body from spring to summer, and he was out to get something.” - Babers on SU LB Leon Lowery.

“He’s really bought into the culture here.” - Babers on SU DB Alijah Clark’s development throughout the season.

Babers said he did not submit a claim to the ACC on the reversed targeting call against Clemson on Saturday. (The officials on the field made the right call, I don't think Dino can submit a claim against bad review people, just bad officials.)

Babers finished by saying D'Marcus Adams will have a bigger role in the receiving game going forward.

Good, Adams has been under utilized and I cant fathom why. He’s the fastest wideout on the team and one of the better after the catch.

That's hard to say. I agree he'd probably be the best straight away deep threat. But he needs to be more than that, or he's easy to cover.

Too many things we don't know. How is his route running, his hands, his blocking, his understanding of the offense. Beck has seen him for two years, has to be a reason for the hesitation.

Maybe now that the numbers are down, he shines with his opportunity. Hope so.

I mean, if his punt returning is any indication, I can fathom why their may be some trepidation.
He’s aggressive and knows he can shake defenders. It hasn’t cost us, and id rather sweat that then Alford, Hatcher and Dono dropping gimme’s.

To Dono’s defense I still think he’s done well

Fair take.

Hands are no worse than what we’ve seen and he’s not getting pushed as easy as Dono and Hatcher.

That said I haven’t heard anything about him as a blocker or route runner and that’d lead me to speculate that these are likely shortfalls.

Dino does not seem happy lately (even before the Clemson game). I wonder what is going on behind the scenes (if anything). I don't expect anyone here to have inside information. Just wondering out loud

Some interesting notes:

- Insinuated some of the players played a little tight because of the crowd and the bigger stage
- Suggested they may need more attention and intensity in practice so that game day is "easier"; practice hard so you can just have fun on Saturday.
- Sounds like Villari should be ok

One game only counts as one game no matter how frustrating. Pick it up, get back to work and control what you can. Beat UNC and if we're 5-1 after six games, we'd all have taken it.

Let's go.

Agreed.
The 6-foot, 180-pound Adams has hit a 4.3 40 time and can leap close to 12 feet in the broad jump. He did it all on the track: long jump, high jump, triple jump, 110-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, 400 meters, 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay.
And he has great hands and catches the ball. I do not understand why he has not been used as a WR and thrown to more often. No one is going to catch him if he gets separation.

No one has seen his practices. Maybe there is something there?

It’s never a good idea to equate track speed and numbers to on the field production. The two things are very different.
