Dino's Week 8 Miami Press Conference Notes / Depth Chart/Injury Report

Would be huge to get Coleman and Black back this week. Any insider info here?
Even one would be big. Berry and Robinson took a ton of snaps Friday. Reps for Guthrie at DE and Jonathan were limited. A deeper rotation will be crucial in the heat. Same goes for the secondary, getting one back between Martin or Scoop will be huge, even as a rotational player if they're not full go. Rodney Williams played really well Friday, Dowels was also solid. But being able to rotate solid depth is really important right now.

custis brings somegthing Butler does not and thats a 2nd physical outside guy.. he has gotten deep every game he played. he needs to work on finishing the play but he gets a physical release that Butler does not yet.
Custis cannot catch the ball. I can't make it any simpler than that. He's had at least one egregious drop in every game he's played so far this year. You can't afford to have him on the field.

For the record I think the one pass that was supposedly tipped away from him actually was a drop. It looked like it hit his chest and dropped out. Was the defenders arm actually in there? To his credit he was getting separation

The ceiling for Custis is higher, he's older, and he made a couple of plays last game. I don't know... But I do trust these coaches with WR decisions thats for sure

Been begging and hoping for custis to emerge the last 3 years. We all fell in love with his measurables, but it's apparent butler is the better route runner with better hands.

Has Enoicy played at all this year?
I don't think he's hurt. I can't remember what's going on with him.

Who is shorter and not as strong - he can’t beat press coverage yet. Custis can.

Neither player is grabbing the job; would be great if one did. I don’t really care who, to be honest.

SU discussion Starts at the 1:10 mark.

Although that’s true he does catch 2/3.

The problem with Butler as TheCusian has mentioned, he can’t get off the line in order to stretch the defense deep. Custis has shown the ability to get behind the defense.

Also, Butler has had several drops as well this year (even if we try to forget about MTSU).

Lastly, even if Custis has questionable hands, they are still good enough that when he stresses the defense deep he draws over the saftey/help defense and relieves pressure off of the other deep WRs. Butler struggles to even get behind the defense (despite his speed) so there is no opportunity for him to attract the saftey/help defense regardless of his “better” hands (quotes because Butler has had the same issues with drops as Custis imo)

Agree with your post. Getting guys back at this point of the schedule who rely on explosiveness is almost a lost cause. These players will contribute in the future, but it takes weeks to get into fb shape.

I see your concerns, but butler pardon the pun, butler made some serious strides vs pitt. ED fed him a perfect toss at the pylon and DB made a nice grab. Thought he made it off the line well the last 2 games.

I'm guessing with the bye week coming up, they're going to be conservative in bringing guys back this week.
