Dion Speaks (tweets)

Come on guys, Dion is obviously not going to the draft. There is zero chance he gets drafted. I mean, every talking head this year said we have no NBA players on this team. They are never wrong. What is Dion thinking????? :noidea:

From a fan perspective. Most improved player ever?

With all due respect, go to hell. The NCAA has made insane $$ off of kids like Dion, let him make his money. He'll be trying out for NBA teams when you think he should be studying.

Actually, I don't think you can do that anymore? At least until after the deadline, which is like April 29 or something.

I really don't appreciate that response.

And you're the only one spewing hate.

And don't presume to know what I would do.

You imply that Dion must finish this semester if he actually cares about Syracuse and its fans. That's not an indicator about how much Dion cares about the school, and suggesting as much downplays all that he has already done for us.

Otherwise, you're right that I shouldnt presume to know what you would do if you were in his position. In the same vein, don't project your opinions on Dion and assume you know what he should be doing.

I didn't say anything about should. I was talking about what anyone would do for those they love whether it's family, teammates, or fans.

It's probably moot if what people are saying is true, that he hasn't been doing his school work for some time now. If so, that indicates that either he didn't know what that might do to his teammates or he may be too selfish to care. I guess that's OK. I'm selfish too.

I know him saying he loves Cusenation is an exaggeration but if I were a teammate and I ended up not being able to play in a future tournament because he stopped doing his work, I'd have to question the love.

And I'm glad we're talking about this now rather than making assumptions and being nasty. Many of us came to this board to avoid that kind of crap.

If Dion seriously came back, he'd immediately be a POY candidate

Fair enough. But what I'm saying is that he shouldn't have to finish his semester in good standing. That's a rule imposed on kids like Dion by the NCAA. It's wrong. And Dion shouldn't be the one taking heat for it. His fellow hoopers and Syracuse shouldn't be upset with him, they should be upset with the NCAA.

On a more general level, my opinions are informed by a corrupt organization that milks $$$ from students without having to pay them, and then penalizes the University, it's players, and it's fans when one of the students that earns the NCAA it's money goes out and gets a real job. In other words, I'm with JB on this one.

Dion? I thought Fab was more improved than Dion. Dion did everything he did this year last year. He just didn't get opportunities to show it. The attitude is definitely up there for most improved attitude though.

The idea that a player should just strike while the iron is hot and leave whenever he feels it is in his best professional interest, regardless of his impact on the team, is ridiculous. If that's the case, not only is it fine for Dion to leave and ignore his APR-related responsibilities - it's also ok for Fab to flake out and leave the team midseaon if he feels that puts him in the best possible position to work out and get drafted.

The idea that I or anyone else on here ought not question the propriety of such a decision is even worse; that's moral relativism of the worst sort.
