Take THAT Arkansas!

And NY and Jersey combined would be top 10.

Well, if you add NY and NJ together, they would be 2nd in population to only CA, which further highlights that they are both underperforming their population ranking.

Also. if you add VA and MD, they would be higher than NY and NJ, so I'm not sure it's a strong point you are making.

Also interesting that NY outpaces a bunch of midwestern states that are the homes of pretty decent programs.

Iowa
Nebraska
Wisconsin

And NY and Jersey combined would be top 10.

NY has twice the population of those states combined.

Look at Alabama and Louisiana, which are 23rd and 25th in population respectively, if you want to understand importance of football in the South.

My point was more than Wisconsin is a good football school and produces a tiny amount of recruits in state.

I'm not arguing that point.

I was jut noting that some very successful programs reside in states that produce bupkus for recruits.

Say it with me: "New Jersey and Ohio."

I will agree with that, and add NY and Pennsylvania.

You take those four, you have a real base. Everything else is extra. Get guys you can get from FL, GA, TX and CA. But build your base on those first four.

Any info based on population size? I had previously seen something where the DC area is the lead based on population. I don't think it was for college recruits, rather guys who made it into the league (and maybe a better indicator of top end talent). Like above though would like to see NJ, PA, OH, and DC metro.

I think Arkansas surprises me the most. Bridge between Texas and SEC country. Figured HS football would take center stage. Population #'s would keep their general # out of the Top 5 or even Top 10 I guess, but lower half?

And even though not midwestern, add Oregon to that list of a school whose production far outpaces its local talent pool per that graph.

No way Hawaii is that high up. That has to include America Samoa, and other like jurisdictions.

I think we should consider the state that connects those 2 as well. Also sheds a bit more light on why we're targeting Illinois with the coaching connections we have.
