Disturbing offense stat from last year via ESPN

Was the O-Line that broken in the final 5 games? Outside of Clemson, that group isn't a who's who of the top defenses in the ACC.

Was it broken - yeah there was a revolving door at Center, RG, and RT with a bunch of guys playing hurt.

As for defenses Clemson #1 ranked defense last year, BC 11th, Pitt 34th, NCSt 47th, Duke 69th.

Yep. And which of those teams did we move the ball better on and came close to a W? NC STATE and Duke. If we move up into the average range on offense we're bowling.

Is SU's website wrong? (I know dumb question) It lists Robinson, Foy, Miller, Hickey and Trudo as starters the final two games and only Burton and Palmer show as playing among the OL backups...

I honestly couldn't see SU losing the games to Duke or NCSU with Hunt under center.

haha classic SU AD. The gaffe on the 2015 scheduling PDF was an all-timer! :) To be a fly on the wall at Manley. TGD on the phone discussing tennis partners, Floyd walking around with a cup of coffee looking at old photos of himself... Lot of queens, not as many worker bees!

I agree with you that McDonald was an idiot. But it goes deeper than play calling. We didn't have the personnel to run the N Zone- No shifty receivers, no one who can shed tackles, no physical blockers down field. Our best running back (Smith) was misused, our tight ends under-utilized, and the mid-range passing game was completely abandoned.

There's also a distinct possibility that he and the other coaches couldn't teach the players to do what they needed to do in that offense. Wanting to run it and actually implementing it are two different things. I don't think its a lack of playmakers by any stretch, but that's just me. I think it was a lack of ability to teach the players what to do well enough to succeed in that offense. Of course, there were also horrible play calls, horrible sub patterns, injuries, etc.
