What Happened: Syracuse downed Cornell 14-6
Takeaway: For my money this was the most impressive result of the week. The 2015 edition of Syracuse lacrosse has started this season in stellar fashion, really showing no weak spots in their game. In two contests the Orange has faced off well (64%), gotten strong goaltending (62% save), cleared efficiently (86%), and been productive on the EMO (57%). Not too shabby for a team that is known for starting slow. It appears the new indoor Ensley Center is making a big difference. Beyond the stats are performances from veteran players that look like they have turned the corner. Nicky Galasso (5,2) and Hakeem Lecky (4,4) are two players that have shown flashes over the last few seasons without much consistency. It looks as if this season — each the final ones in an Orange uniform for both — could be their best ever. Against the Big Red, Syracuse was getting good looks early but was kept at bay by Cornell netminder Christian Knight. Once their first shot dropped, it was a dissection by the Orange. With the win John Desko earned coaching victory No. 200...
