Here are some of his gems:

OK, this one is so very simple: Despite what we've been told for so long, the ground can, in fact, cause a fumble. It happens all the time, including in the third quarter at BB&T Field when Jarrod West caught an 11-yard pass from AJ Long, fell to the carpet … and coughed up the ball, which was then collected by a Wake Forest defender and returned for a touchdown.

Except that it wasn't. West hadn't fumbled. Not according to the rules that defy what all eyes can see. And so, the score hadn't changed from 17-7 to 17-14. In fact, because SU retained possession and kicked a field goal a few minutes later, the score grew to 20-7 on the way to 30-7.

And that was that.

No, wait. There was something else. Long was credited with a four-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to give his side a lead, at 10-7, it would never relinquish. But it's a funny thing. The kid still hasn't stepped foot in the end zone. Rather, he sailed over the corner pylon, breaking an invisible plane that is believed to exist by those imaginative folks who govern the sport.

That's right. Long scored one of those touchdowns in which he never did touch down.

Weird game, football. Weird game.
Is Bud stealing material from Kenny Bania?

I was just amazed that BP got paid for anything, let alone his football and sports knowledge. I just figured the PS hired him on as a governmental tax write off or something. Where is TexasCPA, he may have a better explanation...

He's an orange hater and closet red sox fan which pisses me off more. He writes scathing stories about the Yankees and does nothing but b*tch about them on his radio show and then states he's an Astros fan. He folds as well as a cheap suit

I thought Bud was the guy who wrote about good bargains at garage sales....this is new to me

That third part was truly awful making it sound like we caught some breaks because he doesn't like the rules of football. What Bud! I won't get that minute of my life back. I should know better by now.

Worse yet, UConn grad.

"There must be a school out there, some sort of Hogwarts-inspired academy where columnists go to learn the art of lousy column writing. It can't just be a coincidence that our worst sports columnists, people such as Woody Paige, Jay Mariotti and this week's featured guest, Bud Poliquin, are all seemingly cut from the same cloth — overly negative in approach, painfully flowery in execution. Ten words where two will do. It takes them seemingly forever to get to the point, going on and on when the paragraph should have been ended sentences ago..."

Was never a big fan of his as a writer. Listening to his show the last few years, I came to like him as a guy.

Bud seems a little light in the loafers

Amazing. Webb gone. Rahme gone. Bud, who doesn't even know the sport, bulletproof.

Only in America.

Or Syracuse.
For whatever reason, I read everything he writers in the voice of Andy Rooney. Personally I think that's apt - completely out of touch, has no discernible knowledge or points - yet he gets free reign for whatever reason. Unbelievable.

Actually hired for comic relief.
