I don't recall if I saw this question answered, or if it's even a valid question. I think I read that Dino had an episode where his physical playbook was lost or stolen, and as a result of the incident, he stopped using a printed/physical playbook. I've also heard (I think) that we do not have "a playbook" in keeping with that mindset.

So do we, or don't we? Where are our plays documented?

How do new players learn the offense?

Would really appreciate someone with definite knowledge explaining what's up.

Its grade school. Basically read the D take whats given. It places an enormous responsibility on the players. Too much thinking.

No physical playbook
No electronic playbook
Its all hands on learning

Here's the electronic copy of the stolen play book.

The football coaching tree Babers is from doesn’t use a physical playbook. It’s repetition. It simplifies things, generally. Lots of teams go this route. Wake is similar. FSU tried to with Briles as OC.

The problem is that it can be exploited once you figure out what the offense is looking for. Venables has trouble with it - and then when he figures it out, we scrapped some of it (remember the late calls in our win at the dome and then the arm bands with plays this season).

I think there’s good reason to go either direction - will be interesting to see what Sterlin installs this offseason
