Do we have a shot at an NIT bid?

Since the NIT also reviews the bodies of work of available teams, it's unlikely.

That is kind of sad that based on opinions stated on this subject, SU won't even qualify to play in the NIT. Meanwhile, Colgate, my undergrad alma mater, is participating in their 3rd straight NCAA. SU is my grad connection. My times have changed in central NY. The administration must be getting restless regarding the coaching situation and lack of success for the program over the last several years. I hope the "plan" that Boeheim speaks about occurs sooner than later.

if we win today we may very well win the ACC tournament.

Stop. SU was in the tournament each of the last 3 tournaments and made the Sweet 16 just last year. Colgate has made it twice since '96 and has never even won a NCAA tournament game.

Nono no. They and Iona and Buffalo and Bona have all surpassed Syracuse as programs. You should know this by now.

I don't believe they have taken a team with a losing record since they changed the rules in 2017. also, they would want us to be in it to get home games at the Dome, since that would potentially give the chance of large crowds by NIT standards. well, try justifying a team with a losing record finally getting in and then making them a top 4 seed.

they can take losing teams now.. would they who knows.. guess the quality of the team out there might decide that. its all about money for the NIT

looking at NIT bubble teams on some brackets and using BPI just as a guess

we are ahead of Rutgers/oregon/ST bonny/BYU/colorado/south carolina/drake who they have as in.

They could put us up against a regional opponent in the hopes our fan base would travel.

It depends on how many regular season champs lost in their conference tourneys like Iona,, because they get auto bids to the NIT now and decrease the number of at large bids.

Iona is exactly the type of opponent they would want us to face.

We have zero chance assuming we lose today.

Teams like Oregon, Colorado and South Carolina are amongst the last teams in the NIT Bracket per my quick googling this morning and our resume is nowhere near those schools. And some of those schools could lose their spots due to NIT rules which take in regular season champs from one big leages.

Perhaps a sub .500 team with 3 or 4 Q1 wins in an "Elite" top 2 conference per the metrics would have a chance. Syracuse and the ACC is nowhere near that this year.

My understanding is you need an above .500 record to qualify for the NIT.

Going in to today, the NIt had 15 teams ahead of the Orange at the end of their bracket. I doubt very much will be invited. Playing our best basketball the last two games.
