Dino's contract now or wait until the end of this season? IMO extend it now with him bringing us to a bowl appearance – the first in many years. He's done so much for this football program taking it from ho - hum to national relevance with WINS over so many perennial powers. We have truly become OITNF. Reward this moment, embrace it. He's begun to make us proud of our team again. GO SU :)

If you've been watching Syracuse football for a while you know there hasn't been a coaching staff close to this. Just show up 45 mins before a game and watch our team work out and get ready. I said it before but no one wanted to respond. This Weight Team, these coaches are intense, they stare down the opposing team (the coaches) and walk around with so much bravado it's like a Pre UFC fight. Obviously you need the intelligence to compliment that. I'm not saying we are winning a National Championship any time soon but it's as clear as day these guys get results. About Damn time. I've believed Syracuse could be a top 25 team for a long time.

I've read what has been reported online and it seems we dont pay him bad. Hes getting up there in age, we gotta take care of him good and I think he would stay. These coaches in the Power 5 dont seem to be getting money Syracuse couldn't dish out. Obviously top football schools are different.

Extend now, so recruits have more time to think about knowing that they'll play for Dino.

Dino has said multiple times that he does not discuss contracts during the season. It will come after the bowl game.

If he is willing to negotiate mid season (not sure his agent would advise this) you don't let him leave the room without having the extension signed.

10 years and more money for his staff should be givens. No buyout if he leaves for the NFL but a huge one if he goes to another college would be what I ask for on our end.

The ACC Atlantic isn't as intimidating as it was a year or two ago with FSU and Ville falling off cliffs. Coaches tend to like leaving while their stock is high because fans turn on you quickly after 1-2 bad years but I think this situation is different. His next Garropollo is on the roster and we are the only school with a climate controlled Dome those two things should be enough to prevent a lateral move.

I’ve met him as well. Very powerful and motivating while being oddly calm and quiet. And the rest of the staff too. I look down on the sideline, between Edinger, and Mr. Kilt, and even the assistants look young, mean, motivating. Idk what it is, they just all fire me up.

Open up the safe and pay up.

I'd imagine after this season, we might see a 3-4 year extension with some additional financing put in place for additional support systems and staff ... And of course more guaranteed money for himself and his staff.

I agree we pay him, but I say wait till the end of the season and see how it plays out. Obviously getting to a bowl game was the ultimate goal, and I don't see how we possibly lose to that dumpster fire called Louisville, but would we all feel the same if we lose out or only win one more game? Guy flat out needs a extension but I cant see any major jobs opening up that he would be in the running for, so we have a little time to see how crazy to go with these contracts. College football is a roller coaster last year LSU has pitchforks out for Eddy O, now they want to build a statue, Auburn thinks they are going to lose Gus and pay him crazy $$ now they want his head on a post.

I will assume from information provided by Chris Carlson that Dino signed for six years originally and that his current base salary is 2.4M. Probably with incentives / bonuses for W's , etc.

Extending his contract IMO would be the intelligent thing to do at this point or do you wait to determine how the season plays out? We're not only looking at Dino here we are looking at a program and staff he's put together we want too stay as well. They've already proven their worth both position and strength coaches. These guys and women really work hard and care. We are enjoying a rebirth of Orange Football not seen in the recent past under any coach. Dino is Golden right now. We want him to stay, he wants to stay, his staff wants to stay. I'm quoting Chip here: “I would guess that Wildhack has a plan and that Dino probably knows it. People shouldn’t sweat this too much.”
I want to take it a bit further.

Current ACC bases: Swinney, Clemson $8.5M, Fisher, FLST $5.7, Petrino, Louisville $ 3.93,
Mendenhall, VA, $3.4, Johnson, GTECH $2.97, Cutliffe, Duke $2.61, Addazio, BC $2.44, Fedora, NC $ 2.29, Doeren, NCST $ 2.21, Narduzzi, PITT $1.82, Clawson WAKE $1.82. These are continuing base salaries signed? w/o bonuses.

How much should Syracuse offer Dino?
What seems reasonable for Syracuse to offer Dino? I think we have to go 3+ with bonuses and increase his pool for assistants. $3.5 and another half mil for his people and Dino stays.
I think that’s Dino’s number (maybe a little more for assistants or a growing pool).

How Long? If the original contract he signed per Sports Ill. was for 6 years and he's in his third year? Dino is 57 and not getting younger only better I'd shelve the original contract and sign him for 10. That brings him up salary wise to where he should be on the ACC list and to 67 years young. It gives him a feeling of stability and security for himself, his staff and family. The upcoming TV $ of ACC and its revenue and distribution can only help Wildhack to keep Dino here.

Fans and Wildhack from Mink, syracuse.com after the Clemson Win last year

Syracuse fans naturally worry about losing Babers to a bigger program. I presented this idea to Wildhack, asking if he could offer any sort of assurance to those anxious about one day losing a coach who has them believing this program can return to its best days.

"Dino is already respected around the country," Wildhack said. "He already had that respect. Tonight reinforces it, and listen, I want Dino to be our coach for a long, long time. It's as simple as that."

What does Dino's want to do? His love of SU

"I came to Syracuse because I wanted to play in one of the toughest divisions in college football," Babers said. "I want to play in games that matter. I wanted to play in games that were on TV. I knew that this place could have an unbelievable home-field advantage. All I have to do is get everyone to believe and have faith and what we can do when we all work together.

"We were at Louisville where they had 80,000. I played at Tennessee. I've been in those big venues where they have fans as their home-field advantage and it is based off the numbers.

"But you put enough people in here, in the Loud House, and you feel the energy. It matches all those venues.

"I've found great love for Upstate New York. I've seen things I've never seen before. I'm serious about this. I was born in Hawaii. I'm in Syracuse, New York now, but it's beautiful up here. Snow is coming. We all know that, and we'll stay inside.

"In the summer, spring and fall it's unbelievable up here, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I love having the ability to get from one part of town to the other part of town and everybody is saying, 'Don't go this way, there's traffic.' I'm just laughing. Are you kidding me? I've seen traffic.

"I love this place. I believe it's awesome. This is a fantastic home-field advantage, and I just hope every home game is like the game that we just played."

A sincere, personal, genuine individual who makes his team his family and includes us as part of it.

Let's not disappoint. Keep him here and enjoy another top 25 program. GOSU :)

We are 2 4th down stops from being in the NC discussion, but I get your point and like your post.

Didn't he say at some point right around when he was hired that he felt like SU was a sleeping giant? If so, and I'm not going crazy, then a sentence like that would make you think that he's not going to want to go anywhere. Right when you wake the beast you don't move on to another sleeping monster, you grab the hair of that giant and go for a wild ride. LEGGO
