I miss the hey song and the signs the cheerleaders used to hold up when the opponents starting lineup was announced.

EXACTLY! I miss that a lot as well.

I go to a 5-6 Washington Capitals games a year, and there is a yell of SO WHAT for the opposing team, and it makes me think of the SU cheerleader chat and cards every time.

I understand this take.

But the stand and clap until first basket BLOWS and is completely backwards. It makes things awkward for our team. We should do stuff that pressures the opponent.

I like it, I just think it's backwards. It puts pressure on the team when it starts to go on forever. It should be until the other team scores - put the pressure on them, something for the defense to feed off right from the tip.

I'm fine with the tradition, though as there seemingly aren't any otherwise lol
This is what I've been saying for years. Put the pressure on the other team.

Do the "Silent Night" routine.

The crowd sits completely silent until we score 10 points.

I remember the stand-and-clap being debated in the mid-late '90's post '96 FF when our offense was having a series of slow starts. I always thought it was backwards. Why sit down and become quiet when we score? Shouldn't it be the opposite?

Maybe we should be dead quiet and all collectively shout when the other team attempts their first shot. Try to startle them. Keep doing it until they make it.
