Does anyone get the feeling that recruiting...

What's the deal with so many kids having Vanderbilt and Buffalo/Akron on their lists?

One spin - Vandy right now has a top 25 class according to RS. All of our Vandy kids had Vanderbilt offers right from the beginning so one could surmise our kids with Vandy offers might be pretty good prospects.

Cornelius
Washington

Ford

For comparison, everyone believes Rutgers has been killing it this year but RS only rates their class #43.

Hmmm... here are some other schools that got commitments from players who also got offers from Akron: West Virginia, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Maryland, Penn State, Illinois, Stanford, Cincy, Michigan, Florida...

What's up with that?

My comment wasn't a disparaging one about our recruits. Rather it struck me as weird to see so many kids with both Vandy and Buffalo/Akron on their lists. I don't know how good the academics are at Buffalo or Akron, so it seemed odd to me that those schools would be playing in the same pool as Vandy.

That's all.

Cant go by AKRON=MAC offers everybody. Why not?

Wait another week or so and lets see where we end up. Just this past weekend we had a five star and six four star recruits on campus. I excpect we will land atleast half of them in the coming week...

Well, It's good to see that so many of you agree with me. Sheesh...good thing I'm not running for a political office.
Maybe you were indulging like "the dude" when you posted it. :)

But I couldn't disagree with you more. I think this is very solid class and the losing streak probably had little to no impact on it. Most of the commits came on before the slide and there hasn't been a flip yet.

And if there is a flip, it's probably just b/c the kid felt he had a better option, not because of any "loss of momentum."

SDSU, Houston and SMU are shaking in their boots. Why don't you go over to their boards and rub it in?

I'm in the minority here but I feel a little underwhelmed with our recruiting class so far. I guess my expectations were a bit higher coming into this recruiting season.

Even after the product on the field this season that recruits were watching?

we lost 5 in a row and still have the best class in the past 10 years and prob a top 50 class on scout...i'd say that pretty damn decent we need to WIN more next year bottom line and classes will keep getting better.

we are losing two possibly three key recruits at the end so our recruiting finish although not as bad as our season finish is weak. losing two maybe three lb recruits one has to wonder why Doug waited so long to replace Dan. i sure as heck hope that we are in for a great coach and not another kid relative from some past coaching buddy

Didn't you see who it is?

...has taken a fairly substantial step backwards this year? Between the non-committal commitments, the recruiting battles we've lost and the players we never had a chance with, it seems like all momentum with this team has stopped.

All we seem to hear is rumors on players being flipped away and lost recruiting battles....or JUCO recruits that we shouldn't be relying on in year #4.

I don't think the recruiting damage caused by last season's 5 game nosedive can be understated.
we are absolutely going backwards-----slip sliding away---sorry but that is how i see it

Theoretically, the recruits committing this year were based on Syracuse's success last season. Hence, the reason for the disappointment. Next year may be even more disappointing based on this season's debacle.

They haven't signed their LOI yet so I highly doubt they remember the season we had 2 years ago compared to the crap they were forced to watch this year.

I don't think I would say backwards but disappointing a bit yes! Those issues you mention are groin kicks to be sure. Those five effn loses didn't help nor did the numbers mess they screwed up on. Still its not a total loss in recruiting . We have some quality in there One more week to see if we get flipped by too many of this quality. I expect one or two for sure.

su is one hard friggin sell right now-

we have no identity on offense other than not having a offense-kids have seen 3 years of offensive play that would make the dead barf-kids want to play for a team that plays fun -

our sub par facilities dont help either

most of the fan base has given up after a decade of suck-

now we have a rutgirls program that even though it still cant win has drawn recruits and uconn-

if su is to survive on a level higher than duke when acc play starts -marrone better develop a friggin offense and take some charm class's
