Today's announcement didn't say anything about it. Called him a senior instead of RS which drives me nuts and I thought Shafer quit that practice. But it made me think, if they have their eye on another QB for this class and Eduoard comes in January do they even bring Hunt back? For all the experience and he's been the starter for 2 years, his job to lose crapola, stats speak very loudly. He has played in 13 games against other Power 5 conference teams. He has 3 TD's and 12 INT's. He did not throw a TD pass in 11 of the 13 games. He's not the future and imo he does not give the team its best chance to win against quality competition. I guess you'd want him around but those thinking he is an answer are remembering too fondly his performance in the only 2 games in which he had TD passes last year against decent teams.

Basically I'm saying Hunt ain't the guy, not sure we have the guy. Lets get another couple in here and see if they can be the guy.

Yes. Terrell Hunt has been looking beyond football for his future. He will work towards a 2nd Degree or a Masters I believe.

I hope so. Whether or not you feel he is our best option as a starter next year, his experience and presence will be invaluable.

Of course. And he should be the starter.

I agree that he comes back.

In fact, the only way he doesn't come back is if Hunt, himself, decided he didn't want to come back.

I disagree when you say "...he should be the starter". There should be an open competition for the QB spot. Based on what we've seen this season, nobody should be anointed starting QB.

Personally I want to see Hunt come back, but I wouldn't be totally shocked if he transferred somewhere to play immediately. These kids think they are going pro. I know Terrell thinks he is going pro. After last season he was talking about leaving after this year because "you never know with injuries". Total speculation, but I guess I wouldn't be all that shocked if Shafer were to tell him he's not guaranteed a starter job, or even worse, he won't start next season. I agree with Full_Rebar if he is forced to leave Shafer would lose a lot of the locker room because Hunt is loved. I don't see that happening though.

I think it would be a mistake not to bring him back, even if they decide he wouldn't play QB I think he could be a very effective player after a position change. This could also get him looks from the NFL, because he clearly isn't an NFL caliber QB. With that said, he may decide to leave on his own because he wants to play QB.

Without a new injury, I can't envision a scenario where Hunt doesn't come back.

If he so chooses, Hunt will be here next year competing for the starting QB position.

Why do people suggest a position change? Where would a 4.9 forty guy play? And if a change were to happen, he certainly wouldn't be an NFL prospect with his lack of speed.

His short comings aside he's 9-7 as a starter I believe and won a bowl game. Everyone else is 1-4 or in high school. He'd still be the starter if he didn't get injured.

These posts are laughable, a 3-9 team is not going to ask their senior 2 yr starting Qb back because of 3 freshman who stink and a kid in high school.

Hunt is back next year 100%. It is also going to be an open competition next year. Looks like a two horse race between AJ and Hunt. Alin will RS if he comes in Jan and i believe one of the other guys transfers.

The freshmen who stink isn't really fair. Can you imagine what Hunt would have looked like on the field as a true freshman or redshirt freshman? Eye averting.

Having said that, agree that it's nuts to even suggest he wouldn't be back. He's been sitting up in the booth with Lester, trying to soak in what he can. I'd be surprised if he isn't the starter, and he can be a good mentor for the younger guys.

QB battle in the Spring should be interesting. Getting snaps for 4 (or 5) guys won't be easy though. If any of them aren't really in the future vision or plans for the offense, they should have that honest conversation and not spread the snaps.

The real reasons for the losing record: not the QB, or the Offensive Coordinator. The last 7 games we haven't been able to run the ball at all, the offensive line has been terrible, and the running backs have been just as bad. Against ND 22-69, Louisville 19-66, Florida St 27-137, Wake Forest 33-180 ( McFarland 86 yard run made it look good), Clemson 24-102, N C State 24-69, Duke 21-86. Those totals are pathetic for a major college team, and show why we have such a bad record. Those totals aren't even good for an individual division 1 running back, let alone a Teams total for running backs.

No QB = no passing = pack the box and stop the run.

It's important for him to come back and hone his skills at TE, in order to better position himself for an NFL camp and maybe a spot on a practice squad in '16.

Watch it, some people on this site think that is Silly and Idiotic to ask that question about Hunt….Just saying.

Sorry, but yes, it IS on the QB's and the OC's. To say differently is being naive. As for the offensive line, of course that is a BIG part of the problem as well. In terms of running the ball, it is more on them than the RB's. However, the QB's and OC's would be struggling no matter what the health of our line was right now. I won't put anything on Lester because he was put in a ridiculously tough position this year running an offense that isn't his own.
