Does McLeod not play enough?

I think it is simultaneously true that

1, McCleod is not that good, however

b, he can do a few things due to his size nobody else on this roster can, and those things add an important dimension that can help with the right amount of minutes

I have no idea why he's only recently gotten minutes.

I sincerely hope it's because he wasn't physically able to handle game time, because if it was because the staff just didn't give him time/it took them this long to figure out how to use him, well... that cost us and they need to get better at their jobs.

He doesn't have to play more than 10 minutes to change a game.

I went to the Oregon / SU game McCloud totally changed the game with blocked and altered shots, creating fast breaks and run outs. He also sets good picks, can rebound and score down low. He should start IMO and play 10 minutes a half depending on game flow.

I don't know about starting, because he would pick up fouls quickly.
But he is the perfect "tool in the toolbox" kind of player

Caveat: it's possible that the reason his numbers are inflated is because it's such a small sample size and therefore misleading.

But, for whatever it's worth, he is by far #1 on the roster in BPM, by far #1 in WS/40, by far #1 in TS%, and #1 in PER.

I'm not in any way suggesting he's Zach Edey, but I feel like he may be worthy of say 10-12 minutes per game.

all the advanced measures here are derived from box score stats, players like mcleod who aren't really involved in the offense aside from put backs and assisted dunks are not going to have negatives to weigh down their stats. mcleod doesn't turnout the ball over and doesn't miss shots (he is shooting 100% this season) so he appears highly efficient.

and actually the chart you posted doesn't include yesterdays game, his numbers are even better now

Give him more time. I have been saying for a good six weeks.
Even if he stank, he would still give Eddie a good 10 to 15 minutes a game blow.
I was stunned how much Eddie played yesterday, he must be one tired sore dude today.

Great to see him have some success, but he's deadly slow on his feet. He watched several players drive right by him in the Duke game. Come to think of it, so did everybody on our roster that night.

It was mostly that one play vs. Cooper Flagg that they replayed about 20 times in a row. That's what happens when you try to guard a guy like that 15-20 feet from the basket. Of course Flagg was going to get past him on the drive. He should have played much farther off the man.

I can’t not say that McLeod plays a not sufficient amount of time.

The answer to that is not how little Eddie or Petar can play, but how much you want them to play, versus not playing McLeod. Or not.

McLeod has played at least 13 minutes per game on average the prior two years. This year it’s 5-6. He definitely improved a little bit over those two years. But when I’ve seen him play I’ve not been terribly impressed. He adds a different element but I don’t feel like he makes us much better if that makes sense

Team Adjusted Efficiency is built into the BPM calculation. If the team was massively worse on offense with McLeod on the floor it would show up.

He should be given minutes every game. If he's contributing cool if not yank him. I feel the same with every other player on the roster. Red needs an assistant who can tell him who to sub and when.
Red needs to know when to sub, the who ànd the when.
These things should be talked about all the time within the coaching staff. A strategic plan based on opponent & every variable imagîned, If the HC is drifting off of the plan developed then the assistant speaks up~that should also be part of the plan.
As a chef, If I was doing my job so bad that my assistant was forced into making the most crucial decisions in crunch time, I would conclude that I may not be suitable for this position.
He has nothing to hang his hat on. If he was lacking in one area? Thats different. He is lacking in many areas.
It is possible that Coach learns, grows and becomes successful. I highly doubt it.

Naheem should get some minutes in every half of every game. Send him in to play aggressively on O and D. Block shots, fight hard for rebounds, play a little dirty and frustrate them.

Give me Hodgson. Such an obvious move.
He battled his way from the bottom and has earned his way up.
As a HC he took a bottom dweller to 2nd place in 1 yr. 1st now in 2nd year.
Im glad we didnt end up with Oates but Hoge is on a silver platter for us.

He has to be hurt right? Seriously, it has to be the reason. If not.....

Don’t get it he can change the game with pick and roll, lobs and post ups. On defense clogs the lane and blocks or adjusts shots. If it’s not working that game or the matchup is bad play him less. He should play 15 minutes per game minimum depending on flow.

he did struggle catching the ball, which surprised me.
maybe i just don't remember this since we haven't seen him much at all?

just sit in a zone for 5-10 min and put McLeod in the middle. not sure why this is so hard to figure out.
being 7'4" cures a lot of mistakes on the perimeter with guys driving in

You've noticed all the uncontested lay ups that Eddie and the dearly departed Donnie Freeman used to give up, right?
