Does McLeod not play enough?

Surprise person will come to senior day ? Sounds like it might be Shaq
This is wild. Shaq has been a mentor to Naheem. Pretty cool for the kid.

NM: Sometimes if I don’t have anything to do, I’ll play the game and I’ll turn the commentary all the way down and I’ll just do commentary and it’s just super funny. I definitely talk to Shaquille O’Neal a lot.

He told me that if I wanted to do sports commentary, I could kind of have that in the back of my head.

DD: Okay, wait a minute. You regularly talk to Shaquille O’Neal?
NM: Yeah, that’s my guy. I played against his son Shareef in high school and ever since then we became really close. So, I’m like super close to his family and stuff.

DD: How often do you speak with him?
NM: Pretty often. I go to him about life lessons and advice, you know, how he made it and whatnot. So he’s like, I gotta just be mean. Like, I could be nice off the court, but just be mean on the court.

Caveat: it's possible that the reason his numbers are inflated is because it's such a small sample size and therefore misleading.

But, for whatever it's worth, he is by far #1 on the roster in BPM, by far #1 in WS/40, by far #1 in TS%, and #1 in PER.

I'm not in any way suggesting he's Zach Edey, but I feel like he may be worthy of say 10-12 minutes per game.

Yes!!! - signed Mr. McCloud.

You've noticed all the uncontested lay ups that Eddie and the dearly departed Donnie Freeman used to give up, right?

He offers a different look and rim protection, can dunk with barely a hop, and has hands when he gets the ball high. He is a little slow-footed though.

It seems Red has obviously used him more since Freeman went down.

Not sure why he's seen so little time this year, tho. We really need a more defensive solution at C with Eddie playing very little defense... plus when Eddie was hobbled earlier in the year/out of shape. Not sure naheem is that player, but he certainly could be trialed more.

The starting lineup has been so poor at times. I initially thought Red was hoping beyond hope that the starters would just "click" at some point and collective performance would improve, hence why he didn't use McCloud much as he tried to get the starting team as much on-court experience as possible.

That said, the substitution patterns have been so erratic at times, it just doesn't look like Red knows what he's doing unfortunately.

Shaq is also a bit of a mentor to our mammoth freshman OL Byron Washington who’s on campus. Shaq took him shopping for the suit he wore at his signing day. I’m sure they’ll meet up if Shaq’s on campus.

Interesting.

Shaq also has a "connection" to Syracuse University / Newhouse, having participated in multiple summer broadcasting programs, to improve his skills for his job as an NBA studio commentator. Wonder if that factors in.

I hope he comes to Senior Day & walks out with Syverud on his shoulders.

In my opinion he should play a lot more than he does. He is one of the few players on the team that has a major college body.

McLeod appears to be a great guy. I wish he was a much better basketball player, but the former will serve him far better in life.

It's really too bad how his career at SU unfolded.

Not the most instinctive player, but would have been perfect for the Boeheim / zone system.

Injuries also derailed him, and made him less effectual [in my opinion] than he otherwise might have been. Believe he could have been serviceable, as we're seeing now [and he's still a bit physically impaired].

Oh well. 'Dems da breaks.

This will forever be an all time weird moment. Lifting up a senior citizen like simba in the lion king...
Why is she spreading her legs?

Naheem and Carlos seem to have a pretty good pick and roll going. I don't know why we don't go to that as the offense when Naheem is in. Teams seem to just let him roll, nobody follows him.
