how can anybody guarantee a coach from outside is going to want to keep any of these current assistant coaches?

The recruits who've stated they are staying based on PJ Fleck or any other assistant is crazy because these guys might not be retained.

The kids are taking a huge gamble signing on the dotted line before knowing who the HC and staff is going to be. What O and D schemes are going to be run.

Oh and Tom Savage, all I gotta say is wow.:bat:

Without having named who the new coaches are, why couldnt' Doug act quickly and sign one of those guys.. They'd be crazy not to at least strongly consider an offer be it that any new HC would potentially clean house after LOI day anyway. The fire is burning strong, so pounce quickly.. a week from now will be wasted time.

Who is to say that he isn't, if I was an assistant coach, I would think that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. I would jump for the security, who is to know what the new coach brings in or who is buddies are. If those guys get fired in a week, they will most likely be unemployed for next football season, big gamble. It's not like some of these position coaches are making huge money either, if they have kids and their spouses aren't working could be scary times. Single guy may not care as much

Agree fully.. the excitement that this all is generating has me refreshing the board and various other sites very often. Hope we can get something tangible out of this.

Cignetti would be the logical choice, but as I read somewhere, it's wild to think that in a 1 year period he would have gone from an ex-OC at Pitt to HC at RU.

I cant imagine that they could put Cignetti in charge considering the way his units have played and he really has hung on because of his recruiting skills more than anything else. The team lived byh the D and Schiano was controlling that, they were awful on O for the last couple of years so how could you put any of those guys in charge..

with the BE in flux why would a big name coach come unless he didnt care because he was trying to restart a career..

they would almost be better getting a big name from NJ HS or some college guy with NJ ties no matter where he was now..

lets all hope they find a greg robinson of their own:rolling:

cignetti was not named interim head coach -- i would think that means something

You shouldn't hire a coach based on retaining 1 years recruting class. It's all well and good but in lookign at the interest lists SU was never really involved with very many of these recruits. A few yeah but I was surprised SU wasn't listed on more. You would think the way soem act ont hsio board that every player Rutgers signed was down to SU and Rutgers and they chose Rutgers. For the most part that doesn't on the surface apepar to be the case. Carroo is a perfect example, TOS lists 11 schools of interest, SU is not on that list but we're going to swoop in at the last minute and sign him?
