He will do well. He also has limitations in his game that might not work their way out until he gets to the next level be that the G League etc. I don’t know if it’s his foot or not but he is slower footed than expected which will plague him until he gets a lot stronger.

I don't get the George love - 3 seasons of college ball. 40% FG, 31% from 3 and a 2-1 assist to TO ratio.

Guy is not a winning player and put up good assists stats on bad teams because someone has to get assists.

Same reason (IMHO) Donnie's 17 and 7 numbers are skewed. Someone has to put up numbers, doesn't necessarily mean they helped with winning.

I would point out that George had one of the highest on/off splits in the entire country lol. The team completely fell apart any time he was on the bench.

Donnie's impact was not at profound but he was also hugely positive. William Kyle and JJ Starling were huge negatives.

I’m not a big fan of trying to determine who “cares more” but I agree with everything else in this post.

Might be true but it doesn’t mean that the average fan has the ability to determine who cares the most just by watching games. And lots of players who care don’t win championships.

Oh no I have no idea who cares more or not, I think a lot of us have a general idea based on play and interviews etc but we truly don’t know. That’s why we’re on here typing away our opinions and beliefs.

Donnie is extremely talented. I can see him having an all American type season under an actual coaching staff. Sadly it probably wouldn’t happen here even if GMAC turns out to be the real deal…too much baggage and resentment from a lot of the fan base…I think a clean break is best for both parties.

I think most people would agree. Freeman was by far the most talented player on last years team.

And we should all be able to agree that his motor was in question
He was horrible defensively.
He couldn’t handle a double team to save his life. He was too perimeter oriented
He took bad shots time after time
I never wanna see him try a skip pass ever again.

I’m glad he’s moving on, maybe another coach can get the best out of him and if so watch out. But more than likely he’s not gonna play to his pay…again.

Donnie has NBA potential. Not sure he'll ever actualize it. And he certainly wouldn't have under Red.

This is the rare case where a clean break / fresh start is beneficial for both parties. Best of luck to him.

Seeing some online twitter chatter about UConn jumping into this race...I got to be honest it would be somewhat intriguing to watch and would be a major culture shock for Donnie going from Red to Dan Hurley. That may be the type of coach Donnie needs. Having said that, I know it's a new era, but you just don't transfer from Syracuse to UConn or vice versa, you just don't.

I would like to see him back. I think he is the most talented player with the highest ceiling. Properly motivated, he could carry a team. He could play the on "3" on offense, for whatever labels are worth in this day and age.

Going into his past season or two, almost all of us would have said he was our ‘best player.’ Losing that, (ir-)regardless of our disappointments, is impactful. It will be very interesting to find out who we think will be our best player going into next season. I hope it’s not Doty, and that’s not meant to be a slight on Doty.
