If it’s UConn that is backing out that’s one thing. But weird for me to say, but he could be making a decision destroying his future NBA chances if UConn actually really wanted him and he was using them for leverage the entire time and his camp told them no. Definitely will be tracking how he does at his new destination. Still if I were him, I’m trusting Nate Oats over Mark Pope.Donnie wants to be “coached hard”. He doesn’t want to be coached Hurley hard. I can assure that
Syracuse had its chance with Donnie. First, I think he wants a change of scenery and was at Syracuse for Autry. Dude should’ve been in the NBA now if things went to plan. GMAC has his own plan. So what if he brought Donnie back? What about Sadiq White? It makes no sense from a roster construction standpoint to have both. Donnie probably has a slightly higher ceiling overall, but Sadiq White is clearly the better fit for GMAC and what needed to happen happened. Good luck to Donnie and the next coach in getting Donnie to really break out beyond delivering a nice individual stat sheet. Seems like a good person, so genuinely rooting for it to happen. But I or no one should lose a second of sleep because you should’ve accepted the day Autry was out that he would be gone.
IMO, from what I've seen to date, White's athleticism is on a completely different level than Freeman's. That, in and of itself, IMO, gives White a greater ceiling. Donnie doesn't seem to have that good of a handle, and is a bit slow a foot to boot, so getting off shots at the NBA level could be problematic for him at his self-desired 3 spot, not to mention unlikely able to defend NBA wings on the defensive side. If Donnie gets to the NBA, let alone remains there, it'll likely be at the 4 spot as a role player.UCONN using money to keep Mullins. If it’s UConn that is backing out that’s one thing. Certainly part of this as wellUCONN using money to keep Mullins.
Trending that way, I mean Mullins is likely only scratching the surface of what he is capable of. Definitely need to see what the bench ends up being for them, but the starters are going to be nasty. Also returning Silas Demary which is per advanced metrics the most valuable returning player for them. Also forgot that they have two top 40 recruits coming in as well lol.UConn of course, is gonna be a scary team next year. They keep Mullins and what else they are gonna keep plus Hines, plus if they get the kid from Duke…preseason number 1 pretty easily in my books
Disagree. Losing Karaban and Reed is massive. Hines doesn’t fill the offensive hole. Ball was pretty bad last year. Their offense struggled as it was … then they lost Murray, Reed and Karaban —- and return their whole backcourt which was an issue for them.UConn of course, is gonna be a scary team next year. I agree and I know Mullins is the flavor of the day but he shot low 30% from 3. getting a lot of mileage off the Duke make.Disagree. Losing Karaban and Reed is massive. I don’t see how they’re better than last year.

I would trust UConn to get the most out of Donnie versus Kentucky, but that's just me. Alabama could work, maybe not as good as UConn, but better than Kentucky. I could be totally wrong too lol. Regardless I'm rooting for Donnie. How does this destroy his NBA chances? Not following the logic at all.
I really want to see a reliable mid-range jumper from Sadiq. People keep pointing to advanced metrics and whatnot, citing that a mid-range shot is not statistically valid anymore. But, he doesn't have range i'm comfortable with for 3s, and the alternative in his game is either a dunk or a bodied-up layup attempt, or a hook that may have been effective, but doesn't look smooth yet. If he can prove himself to be a shooter, that's where his ceiling becomes more interesting. He's already quick and athletic. He needs to use that to create easier shots—in space—with less contact."Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."IMO, from what I've seen to date, White's athleticism is on a completely different level than Freeman's. White, with considerably better athleticism, will be able to defend much better on the wing. If he can work/improve upon his shooting and ball handling, etc., his superior athleticism over Freeman gives him potentially more staying power. Again, just my opinion.
He may have been playing an NIL bidding game with Kentucky and Alabama etc and UConn sounds like it may have opted out but who knows? As far as I know though he still hasn’t committed anywhere.
I hope when the music stops it turns out Donnie overplayed his hand and he's frozen out.Kind of like musical chairs if he's not careful.
They think they are getting every kid in the Portal.Oddly, the Kentucky message boards seem to think it's down to Kentucky and Alabama for Freeman.
Three million for Donnie and another flaccid season for Pope. Everybody (but UK) wins.Kentucky is perfect for Donnie. They ate Underachieving U.
