Donnie Freeman transferring to St Johns

Guess the cupboard was bare, after all. Not that I'm complaining. More than happy to clean house (Kiyan and hopefully Sadiq aside). New era, new roster. To the portal we go...

I don't harbor animosity toward Freeman, but I'm not disappointed to see him go. He needs to go somewhere else, where he'll be pushed hard. The tools are there, but he didn't do his professional chances any favors these past two years.

Best of luck elsewhere.

Would like to keep White. Doty and White isn’t a bad start to overhauling the entire roster.
I would be happy to keep White as well, but completely understand if it’s not meant to be. This is the new business. Expect to keep no one during a coaching change. Be surprised if you do and hopefully it’s the cream of the crop, which I believe Sadiq is out of the entire group. Kiyan aside, who has the fundamentals to break out at any point.

Good luck to him. Guy is talented but highly injury prone and questionable effort. Perhaps new surroundings will help. Presumably we replace his talent with an equivalent. We have the money supposedly. Go out and get it!

Or, the staff thinks he has the talent (cupboard isn't bare part) but didn't feel the value was there relative to the NIL part of the equation. Or, Freeman was asked to stay, but wants to test the market.

Presupposing that GMac was deliberately misrepresenting the talent in the cupboard seems like the least likely assumption.

I watch a bunch of NBA and watch all these young guys coming into the league busting their butt for some playing time. Donnie is so far down the line as far as being a potential NBA player. I really don't know what he has done the last two seasons that screams to pay him two or three million in NIL.

Nothing.

But he's a legit 6-10 with stretch four capabilities. He has not fully "grown" into his physique yet, either.

On the other hand, he shies away from contact, has yet to prove that he can be an inside-out player, and doesn't defend. At all.

Which is why he needs to go somewhere like Alabama [just for example, since they recruited him heavily out of HS] where he is going to get pushed to work hard, and play within a structured offensive concept.

If he does, then I would see him in the NBA. He's a former McD's all american -- so some team out there will take a chance on him in terms of NIL.

Tools are there, not sure about the attitude.
