you can’t bring the ball down to your waist, time after time. He never has a clean drive to the hoop. It’s always struggling and hoping for a foul call. If he keeps the ball up high, he’d be so much more successful. Dare I say it, but I can see quite a few turnovers vs Houston.

He doesn't have the ball handling or lateral agility to be a perimeter guy, and doesn't have the physicality to bang down low. It's a major issue. He would be much more effective if he stayed near the paint for high-low action.

He’s gotten a little better getting to the hoop imo, there’s just no believability that he’ll finish. Ball goes low and he flares his arms. Keep it up and finish high!

one reason it makes you wonder what he brings to the next level. Not elite shooter. Not a great handle. Does not play very strong with the ball. And he has shown limited post of game or want too.. He has skills but lots of work left
To me, Sadiq is our only pro

I agree. He's not an NBA player in my eyes, but he's our alpha, he needs to get better.

I think you guys are nuts. It might not fully be there yet, but Freeman's game is prototypical NBA power forward in today's NBA.

Agreed. He's probably our best pro prospect since Jerami Grant.

Same type of athleticism and size. He'll grow into his frame.

But I do agree that he is too much of a finesse player at this stage, and needs to play with more physicality. He'll get there -- it just might be after SU.

Needs to play off of two feet. Will help himself be more balanced and stronger going to the basket. Gets out of control once he goes flying to the basket and it would also allow him to utilize pump fakes to continue to go to the line. Would’ve liked to see him get a couple of and 1s last night instead of chucking it up

To me he does not seem nearly as explosive attacking the rim as Jeremy.

I like Donnie a lot. I'm glad he is drawing fouls going to the basket and he uses his left hand as well. He isn't anywhere near as athletic as Jerami was. I wonder if he will ever have that Grant/Wallace quickness.

Yeah, that's Sadiq all day. Donnie? Not so much.

Donnie is clearly a bit more skilled than White at this point, but not remotely the freak athlete, nor does he seem to have that relentless motor and nasty streak 'Diq does.

I don’t like this thread. Donnie isn’t a perfect player but there are only so many Flaggs and Boozer’s. He is still young and missed most of last season, so I expect growth during the season. If it wasn’t for Freeman’s fouling shooting Cuse lose last night.

I don't know about that. He's every bit the athlete.

How best to use his size / athleticism? That's the challenge -- he wants to play like a wing. Always has, even in high school.

I like Donnie, but he makes himself so small. Even when he is right under the hoop. Keep the ball high! He has an NBA body, that’s about it.

No way his is going in the lottery and I can’t see him being a first round pick - probably better financially to stay in college (hopefully at Cuse)

What’s the big deal that our starting SG missed the rim to the right and then missed the rim short on free throws - someone find me a video where a college player missed the rim on a FT to either side - doesn’t exist

I would think to be anything in the NBA he needs to show more of a 3 point game than he has so far. The FT% is int he high 70s which makes you think there's more with the jumper.

Messing around with stathead, if I look for players this year between 6-8 and 6-10 (listed as a , so we don't see guys like Jalen Duren, for instance) with 3 point attempt rates below 30% (Donnie is at 27.5% this year, 26.7% for his career), list is attached.

Wagner, Ingram, Siakam, Johnson, Banchero; these are all guys who generally play the 4 (obviously the two Orlando guys are a bit of a struggle to fit together) who don't take a whole lot of threes. Also i am obviously not predicting Donnie to be as good as any of them.

A lot of what's been said is true, but he would dominate if he got the ball in better situations. He's always stationary and has to make a play straight up. If he was on the move or coming off a pick, he's be tough to stop. They need to run plays for him. At least have him setting picks that he could poop or slash out of.

Yeah we need more pooping or slashing out of.

Donnie is not the athlete Jerami was.
