The guy is a good coach and has a loyal experienced staff.

Awesome! Bob Chesney is a good coach and can very well be a great coach winning at the highest level of College Football. Fran was the better fit and the guy we needed leading Syracuse at this time.

JMU is a much easier job than Cuse. Not saying he isn’t a great coach, I think he is. But if anyone is going to win at a school like Syracuse it’s Fran. JMU is a turnkey program. Large public university in a good recruiting area that has money and is on the rise to P5 soon, similar to a USF. Just look at the predecessor who leap frogged JMU to a flagship state school with $ - Cignetti. Chensey may be able to ride the gravy train to happy valley

Cignetti coached at Elon and JMU and is having tremendous success at Indiana. If you can coach well... You can coach at any level.

At this point I would rather have a team of well coached 3 stars than poorly coached 3s and 4s.

But he was. He won at NIU and again at BG. Hell, he got us to a 10 wins in his third year. All signs pointed to him being consistently good until 2019.

Merely saying that performance tends to ebb and flow. It’s nice that Chesney’s doing well this year. Fran was amazing last season. Things can change.

To be fair at the time a lot of people were all aboard the gimmick up tempo offense. I remember the first couple plays of the first series, guys were sprinting to their position after the ball carrier was tackled. Looking back it's a bit crazy now, but it was a gimmick that worked, and people adjusted leaving the program with an apparent Briles protege that didn't come close to running that offense. That Briles offense was peak 2010's CFB.

Well, JMU was petty good before Chesney got there. It’s tough to maintain things too.

Cheney also had to replace 50 players on his roster due to the portal and NIL. Dino didn’t, apples to oranges. Dino made a habit of taking over built rosters for 2 seasons then jumping ship. After his first two at Syracuse which were rough he had a 10 win season with Dungey and the wheels proceeded to fall off.

I think JMU is a great program but SOS is at least worth mentioning.

After all Fran hasn't lost to a non P4 team and JMUs only loss this Year is to the only P4 team they've played
