Don't under-rate those 3 star guys

Yup. I've always pointed out that every year, the final top 25 is loaded with teams that recruit similarly to us. Class recruit rankings in the 40+ range. You want to be a year in, year out top 5 team with national title aspirations, you better regularly land that handful of 5 star, and 4 star guys...but I don't think many Cuse fans expect that. Most reasonable people would like to see a team that is ranked in the top 25 year in and out, and getting 8+ wins. We can absolutely do that with our recruiting, as long as we get the coaching staff that develop that talent.
Don't really agree these days unless we luck into an NFL caliber QB that can lift everything else up. That guy can get us into the top 25 for a year or 2 as Dungey managed. He leaves and everything went back in the crapper. We're certainly not going to be a top 25 program "year in and out" unless recruiting improved fairly significantly and got us into at least the mid-pack of the ACC more than once every 3 or 4 years. You need to pile up multiple years of "good" classes on top of each other in order to build ACC quality depth that can withstand inevitable injuries.

At the end of the day, it's hard to overlook the direct correlation between our ACC recruiting class rankings and our ACC conference record.

The fact is we miss more times than not. Even our 3 star guys don’t compare to the 3 star guys other schools get. Recruiting is down and every year the same ppl come on here and spout off how this is an underrated class. Well the proof is in the puddling and our record over the past 20 years proves they are not under rated and we are not getting enough of the good 3 star players.
EVERY recruit we get is underrated. Then when a bunch of those guys transfer out without ever making any kind of impact, similar people then post that we aren't losing anything.

You want stars? Step right this way…

Rams have a Cooper that didn't have any stars...
Those diamonds in the rough are outliers. The odds of filling a team with those kids is very low. More times then not a 4-5 star kid will excel in college. 1 and 2 star kids are projects and very rarely excel in p5. We need more of the 3/4 stars then 1/2 stars or we will be in the dumpster fire forever.
