In 2009, SU entered the season with 70 scholarship players. In 2010 spring, SU had 49 non-kicking scholarship players and 3 specialists for practice. The other seven Big East teams averaged 90 players on their spring rosters. Even with the full recruiting class coming in, they were still well short of 85 that season.

Sure Doug might have been responsible for some of the attrition by apparently being a hard ass. But what was he supposed to do? He took over a program that won 10 overall games and 3 conference games in 4 years under Greg Robinson. They couldn't even come close to competing against that Big East schedule. He had to completely rebuild the roster.

Now I'm not the biggest Marrone fan like this may seem, but when you constantly talk his record just in terms of wins and losses, but scream asterisk all last season about Dino and include every single detail about why it's been difficult for him, I'm going to flag you for posting malpractice.
