Doug Marrone's QB

I don't understand why people here bitch about Nassib so much. The kid is going to get freaking drafted next year, yet people here believe he shouldn't even be throwing a football. I don't understand the hate. I can't think of any other player in recent memory who takes as much unfair treatment by fans than Nassib.
Craig Forth?

Nassib will leave here with his name all over the record book. He has been far better than average...all thing considered.

Debatable. He's certainly had some lousy games (Rutgers last year) but how good he's looked seems directly tied to how well the OLine is doing in front of him. He looked like a potential star last year vs Rhode Island (shocking I know), and WVU (23-32 229 yards 4 td's 0 int).

I agree with your point; further (ifs and buts, I know), the Nassib's Rutgers performance and our season as a whole would have been drastically different but for our receiver batting that ball up into the air at the goal line.

He bats it up, gets it picked, we don't score, and Nassib throws another one away late in the game. Three interceptions, no touchdowns.

Had the receiver made that simple catch, Syracuse wins going away and Nassib isn't forcing passes late in the game. One interception, one touchdown, Syracuse victory.

No doubt that Nassib played badly that day, but - as you said - he was hurt by those around him to an extent that really hurt his numbers.

Any one of 10 things happens different in that Rutgers game and we win easily. I'm not putting that all on Nassib but 0 td 3 int statline is all that remains now.

That goal line int wasn't his fault and that late int down the field was a stellar play by the defender dropping back in coverage.

Inconsistancy has been the recurring theme all over the field for us. Oline's strengths and weaknesses haven't meshed, lack of pass rush hangs out db's often, running game looks different every drive it seems, some games WR's can't catch a cold or get open, some games they do and Nassib can't get the ball close to them past 15 yards. One series we look like we've figured it out, next series we revert back to the team of 4 years ago.

As an optimist I see all of these as things that can be improved upon as early as this year. As a realist, I see a bunch of ?'s that could go other way. At least we finally have enough talent/depth across the board to have options if plan A isn't working in a game.

NFL scouts love Ryan as a potential back-up and see him as a potential 4th rounder, barring an epic collapse this year. Essentially he is a bigger stronger faster Ryan Fitzpatrick.

I like Nassib - he has grit - and has been a lot better than his supporting cast. But if he doesn't improve his long passing he will not get drafted. He really has been very weak in that area even when he has had time and even when receivers have been wide open. I am a fan of his but I think that criticism is accurate and fair. He has one more season to improve and I am rooting hard for him.

who here would be disapointed if wilson wins the starting job?

I wouldn't. The program needs one of the QBs [Hunt, Wilson, Allen, and I'll even list Broyld here for now] to pan out and emerge as a dynamic playmaker.

I don't care which one of them it is, but we need one of them to end the drought.
