Down goes Purdue... #16 over #1

Embarrassing performance. Coaching and execution was truly terrible. Guys had wide open shots and threw up complete bricks. Their average height was 6’3”. You have a 7’4” center. Obviously they are going to be doubling, triple teaming him.

Guards were an abomination.

To put in perspective how much of an upset this was...FDU was ranked sub 300 in Kenpom, has only 2 top 300 Kenpom wins, and wasn't even suppose to be in the tournament (NECC Autobid went to a team in the middle of a D2 to D1 transition and ineligible). More of an upset than UMBC win.

Tobin Andersen coached at Hamilton for 7 yrs - nice win by FDU!
Interesting guy. He coached at SIX small upstate NY schools (and nowhere else) before being hired by FDU last May. Also, he has an BA in American Studies from Wesleyan (a seriously top school academically). Funny that a guy with that background would become a basketball lifer at a series of well-regarded schools not particularly known for athletics.

I know everyone’s bracket is now smoked

Everybody missed it, so it doesn't really matter from that perspective
What really matters is how far you had Purdue going -- I had Purdue out in the sweet 16, so tonights result is actually good for me, as probably more than half the people would have had them going longer.

It looks like we were only -9 vs Richmond?!! That doesn’t feel right. A 2 seed back then was ironclad.
The thing is, Richmond was no 15 seed, and everybody knew it. Certainly Las Vegas did. As a 13 seed, they beat Bobby Knight's Indiana team three years earlier (in the Dome!).

And Dick Tarrant could coach.

Guards for Purdue were useless.

So much for Rutgers fans claiming their win at Purdue was the best of the season when they were discussing their tourney resume.

Granted, they limped to the finish line, but they won the B1G regular season by 3 games, and they took the conference tourney.

Makes one wonder about the strength of that conference.

1- FDU didn’t even win their conference tournament. Merrimack did but were not eligible due to recently moving up from D2 (stupid rule)

2- FDU top 2 scorers transferred in from D2

3- FDU was 4-22 last year.

4- FDU is not ranked in the top 300 of Kenpom

5- FDU is from the worst conference in America.

6- were 68th overall seed

7- FDU lost to Hartford (2-23) this year

8- FDU was the shortest team in the country. Purdue was the tallest team in the country.

Has to be a bigger upset than UMBC. Not sure on the lines or the odds pregame.

#8 is the most amazing one. FDU was the modern Roy's Runts. (And SU's Tom Green was along-time coach there: Tom Green (basketball) - Wikipedia. )

Its also why the ACC is a lot
Stronger than people think.

I watched the end. unbelievable loss. Purdue flames out again in the tourney (why can’t this crap happen to Kansas or Duke, lol). I feel bad for their fans. Must be shellshocked. But man, if those Purdue guards aren’t making shots, they just don’t have the athleticism to break their man down off the dribble.
Those Purdue guards were scared to take a big shot down the stretch

Did you see the speed, intensity, effort put out by FDU?
Compare that to the cadillac mentality of JBs teams.
CUSE had better talent than the "FDUs" but rarely put out that type of effort.
Coach Autry, you can start there and watch fans return to the dome.

We should have made the tournament. What this shows is how more teams should be in because on any given day a team could lose no matter how great a regular season…just ask JB…or bud
