Class of 2015 DT Ty Cross (GA) Signed LOI

So what you're saying is we should hire an expert black belt to train our linemen "hand technique"?

Sounds like all they'd get out of that is a bunch of callouses and big forearms.

Althought that might come in handy on the line, now that I think of it.

And dangerously dehydrated.

Chicago Bears hired a Martial Arts specialist for the offseason to train the DL, it is done alot in the pro ranks.

This kid isn't small he's 280lbs ! Why would his coach say he's 6-3 if he isn't? What camp said he was closer to 6-1?

I forgot where I saw it, but they said he was 6'1 when measured. He is 17 so maybe he grew? But if you go with 6'1 280lbs, it's not exactly small, but for the position it's undersized.

Vince Wilfork is only 6'1" and has dominated for years. You never know.

Because every coach forever lies about their kids size. 2 inches is pretty standard but I've seen as much as 4.

It was at Sparq. Bam said he was measured at 6'2, I believe him.

I agree with that but my point is that most of these kids measurements are exaggerated. You can probably take 2 inches off most of them. So he's on par with the rest is my point.

I thought you wondered why someone would say 6'1 when the coach said 6'3.

Sounds like the kid has all the right numbers academically and athletically. Staff is really doing a great job, I can see some serious, dominant stars out of this class alone. So psyched for us to dominate the pack in the ACC.

No doubt. I am a sturdy 5'7", but in HS football I was a 6'2", 215 lb MLB on the roster.

Any eligibility left?

If I remember correctly, the whole 1987 SU team, at the encourage of the seniors, attended Tae Kwan Do workouts together on a regular basis. It sure didn't hurt them.

The staff is really, really, really excited about this kid. Just an FYI.

I really like what the staff has assembled these last two classes at DT. Exciting to see.

And they all seem like great system fits.

uggh - someone get the staff an internet connection - don't they realize the kid is only a 2-star recruit and if it weren't for SU he'd be playing 1aa ball? we're doooooomed! hahahaha ;)

If the staff gets guys at the DT position that can make some noise in the other teams backfield all will be well with this defense and it'll be hitting on all cylinders. As for weight, it's carried by different body types and Cross can hold his own vs a OL push and get some penetration on traps and passes...I'll be a happy camper. Welcome to the Hill Mr. Cross!
