Dukies continue to be unimpressive.

Richmond up 11-9 with 5 minutes to go in 4th.

Richmond 12-10 with 1:18 to go. Duke time out.

Richmond wins 12-10.

Third year in division 1.

Wow that is a stunning defeat. I mean just wow.

2 quick thoughts. Without seeing the box score I'm assuming Jones didn't dominate, Duke this year seems way to dependent in him despite having everyone turn from last year.

Second Danowski's quick turn around scheduling is costing duke big time. Syracuse 4 games with at least 5 days in between each one usually 6 or 7 in most cases.

Jones went 1 & 3 on 5 shots.

Cohan and Guterding did most of the scoring.

For Duke to only score 10 goals against Richmond is Unthinkable with all that offensive firepower, something is big time wrong. Also looks like there defense is still struggling despite playing so many young guys last year.

Extreme u have the face off #s?

Chemotti will be getting a lot of phone calls in late May.

I didn't get to watch a lot, but Duke looked dead on offense. With 1:18 left, they came out of a time out and immediately committed an egregious offsides. They are no where near the level of where they have been in the last 5 years --even in their early in the year What losses of previous years.

Who knows if they will come around? They have in previous years. I'm not ready to write them off, but they seem to be an inferior product from the previous successful years.

Richmond is 5-1. Their loss was at home to Marquette 7-2.

Exactly. That is the the thing with Duke. They do tend to start slow each year. I know that we are not overlooking them.

Perhaps this might be good for what we have going with our scoring distribution. When you rely on one guy to get the majority of the goals perhaps it is easier for the opponent to key on one guy.

Also, Army or UVA could have just as easily beat us. Honestly it was also beneficial to have Albany in their first game on a full field.

I haven't seen them play but from what I have read Duke (edit:Denver total brain cramp) seems to be the best team. Otherwise anyone can beat anyone in the top 19 or so.

I agree that Duke usually starts slow and makes a move midway/latter half of the season but this current Duke roster is made up of a ton of Seniors including Jones, Class, etc nearly all of the offense outside of Guterding. Its one thing to lose to a good Harvard squad but to lose to Richmond at home two days later, something's not right.

Best team right now in my mind is Denver, their offense reminds me of some of the early to mid 2000 Cuse teams, so much talent is borderlining on ridiculous.

I was thinking the same thing. They could have easily lost to UNC, but the talent on the field just got it done. They seem capable a raising the level of their game to meet the challenge of the moment. I won't be surprised if they lose to the Irish this week, or drop a game in a dull Big East schedule. But I won't bet against them in May.
