Duke Gameday...

How much would we move up in the NET rankings with a win?

I would hope that Autry has them hyped out of their minds. They've won back-to-back games.

If they are going to have any chance whatsoever of making the tourney, it starts with a win tonight.

Yeah I can’t stand myself for saying this but we have the mix of players to pull off an upset.

If we move the ball, we can do it.

Gah

We have to shoot great from three, and not miss our layups.

We have to guard the 3 point line really well, and not get bullied inside.

It's a tall order, but we have talent on this team, and it's not impossible that we could win.

Great point. George MUST value the ball today. We will not win a game like this with errant lobs and passes. Donnie needs to be strong with the ball as well. Lately, he's had a problem in that department. Seems like once a game a player rips it out of his hands and at least one errant pass (even though the box score doesn't seem to capture all).

Absolutely!

We’re going to need to stand tall in the paint. Duke has a huge advantage over SU there. It could get ugjy.

It’s all house money. We know what we are up against the reality of where the program stands so at this point it’s simply shock the world .. or don’t. How we do it is kind of irrelevant at the moment.

Trap game for Duke? It didn't work against UNC last week, but I have no doubt plenty of Duke supporters are feeling queasy about this one. That on it's own makes me quite happy!

If we pulled this off, would it be the greatest upset win of our program history? Other contenders I suppose would be our upset win against Virginia in the ncaa tournament in 2016, beating West Virg in 2021 in the round of 32 when they were #3 seed and we were #11, or all the way back before my SU fandom in 1975 sweet 16 win against North Carolina.
when we knocked off #2 seed Michigan State in 2021, the Buddy Buckets game and we finished with the walk-on in the game and he drew a key charge or a had a steal or a big rebound, I can’t remember the play but it was something like that...

In the second half of the Cal game in I believe a two point game, we had a two on zero fast break, and instead of just taking the guaranteed layup, he threw a lob off the backboard to Sadiq which could easily have been fumbled, etc. Obviously it worked out and we won, but IMO that is an example of immature decision making. If the game is no longer in doubt, sure have some fun with the crowd, but in a close game just make the heady play when you can.
I remember that off the backboard pass and immediately thought of what JB’s reaction would have been. Nait would have either been sitting soon or watched a huge stare down from JB after he stood up with his arms crossed with a disgusted look on his face.

I think you're mixing the 2021 and 2018 seasons together.

Maybe the greatest ever because the game is in Cameron...but also the least important major upset in SU history.
The 1975 win over UNC is probably bigger.

But don't forget the December '82 win over Olajuan, Drexler and Phi Slama Jama Houston.
That was in the Dome.
And the Orange had a pretty good team with Santifer and Waldron in the backcourt and Bruin and Rautins upfront.
Tony Bruin had 26 point and 9 rebounds.
Leo Rautins had 15 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists...but a lot of turnovers, too.

Erich Santifer 10 for 12 from the field. He was so efficient and smooth with the mid court game
