Duke passes Syracuse on KenPom after loss...

Duke covered the spread so they clearly "won" in the world of kenpom. :bat:

I posted this a few minutes ago. But if you consider home court advantage to be 3-4 points, is Duke the better neutral court team?

There SOS improved even more. Even with the bump we got in SOS as well there's still High Point and Binghamton.

LoL. 3-0 vs the top 10 and 18-0 vs everyone else.

Its an efficiency based rating system - not W/L based system. Its a predictive model, with more weight given to current results. It is not meant to rank top 5 teams. It is not meant to rank teams at all in the traditional manner that teams are ranked in polls.

Its good for assessing opponents of the top 10, and farther away we get from the top.

Teams were in a dead heat before the game (essentially we were about one point ahead) and they still are in a dead heat, and they are essentially one point ahead of us now.

Duke lost by 2, and when you factor in homecourt, they were slightly more efficient. Hence, they are now marginally ahead. There was no funny math.

Do you guys not understand how kenpom works??

No most people do not understand that it is a predictive model. They think if it does not rank teams exactly like the AP Poll does its garbage.

Seems like Kenpom penalizes a team for close wins. That's been our MO this year.

KP basically has us at a tie for 2. It's not taking a massive dump on us.

if cal beats ua, do repass duke and pass au? one game at a time!

As I've said before, Kenpom is basically only good for giving us the teams who will likely win the championship, just prior to the NCAAs.

Any team that finishes at that point Top 20 in both ADJ Off Efficiency and ADJ Def Efficiency is amongst the few that will win the NCAAs that year.

Right now, only 4 teams qualify:

SU - 4/16
Pitt - 11/17
UL - 17/12
MSU - 20/14

Pitt and Louisville are fool's gold, imho. Neither has a true quality win yet.

MSU is the true threat now, especially if Zona has lost Ashley for the season.

Cheers,
Neil
