Our old friend Pat Forde included Eric Dungey in his Forde-Yard Dash write-up this week, highlighting backup QBs who have been thrust into action because of injury:

Eric Dungey (6), Syracuse. Called upon when starter Terrel Hunt hurt his Achilles in the opener against Rhode Island, and the true freshman from Lake Oswego, Ore., has performed ably. Dungey is the No. 7-rated passer in the nation (197.80), with four touchdowns and zero interceptions to date. After struggling early, he hit two long touchdown throws in the Orange’s victory over Wake Forest on Saturday. Syracuse should get to 3-0 against Central Michigan without putting too much stress on Dungey, but then it gets real: LSU comes to the Carrier Dome on Sept. 26.

Another comment assuming an easy win this weekend. CMU is a classic trap. Line is only 6. Been a Syracuse fan WAY to long to be cocky about this weekend.

So true!

Too much discussion on this board about LSU.

The Orangemen will have their hands full on Saturday.

If they don't come to play they lose this game.

We need more of this. Kudos to Dungey (and for Forde for dropping him in here).

i didn't think Dungey struggled early at all.
agree, rather he wasn't put in a position in the first half to do the things he did in the second for the two reasons they stated: not to overwhelm a young developing qb, an in an attempt to stay with the gameplan they think they need to use for success being so run heavy.

I hope they see two things now, that the kid can handle things and that the approach they used in the second half is the key to offensive success. At least this week it is.

Finally saw the video on the Estime td. That was a great great throw. In motion back foot open shoulder three quarter wrist flick from the 4 to the 40

That was crazy good

That was like Farve/Rogers type throw

Some of you guys act like we board members are playing CMU, not our actual team.

The players will be ready and we will win by double digits.

And for the record, I think the board could totally beat CMU too if we had to.

the only thing bothering me about dungey is that I worry we are letting him get hit too much. he is a big athletic kid for a freshman. I just don't want to see this kid running so much once we start stringing together the P5 defenses because these defenders are men and this QB is young.

CLEAR EYES FULL HEARTS CAN'T LOSE!

Agreed. And I also think that the coaching staff / team will be focused upon having true frosh Dungey as prepared as possible every week, so I don't expect them to look past anybody on the schedule.

Disagree. He missed a coupla throws that sailed on him, but that's to be expected.
If Lester saw the same things we did then he'll have the kid move the pocket in upcoming games. Let him improvise a little, give him a chancE to make plays.

Only if CurtB comes back.

I was a pretty good receiver back in the day, but ya hopefully the team isn't thinking about Lsu, and is focused at the task at hand.
