Dungey on Jim Rome Show Interview Summary

Its about the knowledge of the game in general. Not just of him, of kids in general. I grew up knowing history of all sports. Even tennis, and i freaking hate tennis. Once again, maybe im weird.

Spot on, its about loving sports AND competition as in tennis. I am 47 and loved McEnroe and conners. If you are a sports fan and didn't get into that matchup, then maybe you weren't a sports fan.

Rome is an adolescent. Why anyone would care about what happens on his show is completely lost on me.

Have to admit im one of Dungey's biggest supporters, yet im annoyed as hell with the comment about not knowing Syracuse had a college football team. Did NCAA football getting dropped from ps4 and xbox really take away that much basic football knowledge from younger kids? I used to know almost every city and mascot of every D1 school lol. I guess im weird.

So a couple other possibilities:
1) He was exaggerating for effect, attempting to be a little funny.
2) He wanted to go with something less offensive than “All I knew about Syracuse was they were dog crap awful”.

It’s just a weird thing to get upset over; too many innocuous reasons for the statement. I’m not sure not knowing Syracuse had a football program is even a big deal- I’m generally pleasantly surprised when an 18 year old knows anything. People are far less historically aware than you apparently realize.

Your last sentence is probably the only one necessary.

I would also say that its funny you think its weird for me to get annoyed over sports people having zero historical knowledge, yet you hate all Villanova fans that didn't go to the university or know someone who is an alumni.

I believe you have me confused with someone else. I’m apathetic to Nova fans, and pity Rutgers fans...only fans I hate are UConn fans. And that’s regardless of whether they attended the school or not; all UConn fans are awful human beings (well, save one).

The grape soda gif at the end of video might just be the greatest gif in the history of gif’s

Indeed.

A finance or accounting major. Can’t remember which.

Accounting. Both he and his roomie "Whit" are Accounting Majors. (I learned this watching a "Whits-Up" video on YouTube that showed ED and his roomies in their digs.)

Accounting is a difficult major that requires daily effort. You just can't fall behind and then catch up with a burst of cramming.

And the answers to the test questions are not "subjective" in which one opinion is as good as any other. The major won't produce a lot of pointy-headed intellectuals, but it will produce a lot of guys who never have any problem finding jobs.

Agreed, I think Nassib was same major as well

My son is a finance/accounting double major. He’s had classes with both of them. I just couldn’t remember which one he said they majored in.

I think Nassib was a finance major who graduated with something like a 3.97 gpa. Bright kid.

Oh FFS, you just can't help yourself.

Everyone in my family is a CPA so can’t be that hard.

Syracuse was terrible when he was in high school. You're not going to follow an awful program from 3,000 miles away.

But isn't there a difference between not following a team and not knowing they exist?

Like when I was in high school on the east coast, I didn't follow San Diego State, but I was aware of the existence of their football team.

Not sure what there is to be mad about. Was it:
The general disrespect by his news sources that must not have mentioned us?
That we sucked so bad that maybe they didn't mention us out of respect, not disrespect?
That even though ED didn't know about us he subconsciously hated us enough to block out any mention of us?
That ED is an idiot who somehow managed not to remember what he heard about us?
That you hate hyperbole?

Inquiring minds want to know!
