Dungey backtracked from the vitriol he had last Thursday, saying he'd talked to some of the players and told them that "I'm not coming at you...I've been in their shoes". He was just upset about the punting in the other team's territory or kicking field goals down by 3 TDs. "Something needs to change...but I've got a lot of love for Babers. I'll say something again next week, as long as they start winning. I knew from the first four games that they should not be playing like that."

He said that Alford has "size you can't teach". He said he reminds him of Steve Ismael, a guy who can catch those back shoulder throws. "We need to use all our assets. It comes down to Shrader too many times. We could us the QB throwback. Shrader has a receiving background and Villari has a throwing background. We need to get defenses winded. They used to let us draw up trick plays. We need to get postive thigns on our first drive. It was always exciting to get that first first down."

Then he got on the cliche express. "There's still a lot let to the season. We could go 8-4. We've got to get the big Kumbaya, to water the garden. When we're playing at the highest level, we have an advantage in turnovers. The defense burns with the hottest fire. [Which makes the strongest steal.] They'll be hitting like no tomorrow Friday. It will be a good Friday football game to watch. Let's try to go 1-0."

They will likely podcast it.

I wish someone could teach Alford "hands".

People do way too much backtracking. I can’t tell from the summary whether Eric has done that.

But his observation that Dino does a great job losing by 30 rather than 40 - and I realize I’m paraphrasing - would by itself make him a legend as a poster on this board.

So scathing, so on the mark.

I had a great view in person of a play that may summarize Dungey’s career at SU.

LSU at Baton Rouge. First play from scrimmage. Tries a throw into the flat and gets picked by Greedy Williams.

Somehow gets to the sideline, launches himself at Greedy as he enters the end zone. Grabs his face mask and nearly decapitates him.

So Dungey. Technically imprecise, but willing to kill you for exploiting that.

And of course he played better from there and we nearly pulled the upset.

I still have nightmares about Sean Riley’s dropped TD in that game. It happened early but I have zero doubt that we ride the momentum to a win if catches that perfect pass.

Yep, that was brutal on a perfect thrown from ED.

And don’t forget that Paris Bennett was thisclose to a pick-6 late that also would have changed things.

That would have been such a sweet win.

I low-key think he really wants to blame Shrader and Dino

I also think he'd be a very good coach
Seems like coaching or announcing should be in his future.
What’s he doing these days? Still trying to make a roster?

I would replace vitriol with warranted.

Same. I was drunk at a bar in Oakland talking crap to LSU fans on a trip with my now wife and meeting her friends for the first time. That drop still stings.

We did indeed, that was a huge missed opportunity.

Especially considering that Troy came in the next week and did what we couldn’t.
I still think Dino’s first two years he had enough talent to have bowl teams in both years. Both were missed opportunities like the 2019 and 2021 seasons.

2016 might be a stretch looking back, maybe could have stolen 2 more but doubt it. NC State we let slip away and the 76-61 Pitt game - how do you score 61 and lose?

2017 definitely. Lost very winnable games at LSU, at FSU at Miami at NC State and choked vs MSU in the cigar game.

Five games that easily could have gone the teams way.

Also lost to Wake 64-43.

His D the first two years was terrible.

His O post Dungey is terrible.
