Anyone else got old timers vibes lately? This season has a coach P feel to it in some ways. Minimum expectation of a bowl, couple of what the heck losses, big win over VT in the Dome in OT from a turnover, old traditions, consistent uniforms. I'm not comparing the coaches, but this season is starting to feel a certain way to me and it's very familiar.

Fair. But I would prefer that when we get to Miami (assuming they are still top 5), he doesn’t ask the media/fans for advice on how to compete with them.

Miami last game of the season is supremely sentimental.

that 1992 game was one of the reasons I applied to Syracuse. It was such a monumental game for northeast football. Between Syracuse and Boston College that year, the northeast had big boy football (along with ND humming too).

a couple of What losses? Pitt wasn't a What loss.

Losing to Pitt wasn't unexpected. They were home, undefeated, ranked and favored. And we hadn't won there in 23 years.

But, outside of the Coach P thing, I think many of us said what the heck (with the other word) several times during that game, given how it unfolded.

And then Pitt folded against SMU, sigh.

Stanford will be lucky to be a 3 win team. Double sigh.

But at least we beat Virginia Tech.

Yes it was the same way that GT in the Champ's bowl was. There was 2 types of those losses, losing to Temple out of frigging nowhere(Stanford) and losing to a peer team by 50 damn points Purdue/GT(this year's Pitt).

On the positive side, after several years of losing most conference games and not beating peer teams, we are actually doing that...

wins against Ga. Tech, NC State, and Va Tech are all very positive. UNLV was a good road win too. We need to close with BC and Cal and this year will be a successful first campaign. For too many years we havent won those types of matchups.

Let's be very clear. I was and am still a big P supporter. Comparing Fran to P is a compliment.

When Fran talks about opposing players in press conferences he uses the players numbers like P did. "Number 19 is dangerous, we've got to account for him...Number 99 is big, strong and fast on the pass rush..." When Fran breaks out "multiple" he'll have him down pat.
