Elijah Moore transferring to Utah

Its do or die time for Kline and Autry. Rebuild it or pack it in
Feel bad for Kline, he's in a tough spot. Roster was basically set once he was hired last year.
This is the first offseason we can judge Kline. Nothing that happened last year was on him. We will have a better portal haul this year simply because we are more prepared and have more money.

Even then, if we are unable to land big time guys - it’s almost hard to blame Kline because I could understand guys not wanting to play here right now. We looked like a mess and return the same exact coaching staff

Here’s my take on Moore. I saw a player that struggled with confidence all year long. Not unusual for freshmen. It’s harder for fans to be patient with players when they’re getting paid.

But Moore had about the same playing time as Demetris Nichols as a frosh. And shot the ball at a higher Pct.

It’s an interesting perspective. I think he’s going to be a good player for someone eventually. But in this new world, you almost want other programs to develop players, and you snag them once they can be solid contributors to a rotation.

He “might” be ready next year, but as a school you have to decide if he’s worth the investment.
I'm gonna make some assumptions about that steal when the game was over

That wasn't the type of thing that someone who is just struggling with confidence does

You're right, especially with HS and portal kids all having NIL managers now. Their advice is go somewhere where you can get playing time, show what you can do, and then "portal up". Those kids get paid more than 95% of kids coming out of HS or Prep ball, because they are more proven. Lower leagues become the G League for P5 programs.

How would we even judge Kline though?
We’d need insider info on who Kline was advocating for.

It could easily be a case where Kline likes Players A, B, C. A wasn’t interested. B wanted too much money. Red preferred Player D over Player C. We have no way of knowing.

Autry made bad bets with money he wasn’t sure of (also on him) last offseason.

I think we will know how effective Kline is or isn’t. Several NBA teams have more respect for him than other leadership in our program and he isn’t on the hot seat.

He could have turned into a good player, but he was not that great his freshman year. He could have been handled better, and brought along. But he just didn't play defense any better than JJ or Carlos. If he did, he could have gotten more chances.

Probably didn't help that this staff was a downfall in regard to his progress too.

more chances? He was a starter for more than a month and did nothing
