EMU Impressions

Dan, good recap; and nice to know that Otto's Army has arranged some pre-game festivities for Friday.

Question: is your contact at the Dome (or in the athletic department) at all receptive to complaints about game atmosphere? They really outdid themselves last night: pretty much wall-to-wall commercials; the Sour Sitrus Society didn't play a single note during the first half. Games like last night, it's a tomb in there anyway. Games like Friday (assuming there's a decent crowd), that junk really takes the air out of the building.

As dedicated as your group of students is, our homes games are lacking - the athletic department has reached a new low in terms of fostering a college basketball environment. It'd be nice to see a change, or at least bend someone's ear about this.

They have been very receptive to us. I wish I could speak more on it, but there is a lot I can't talk about publicly. This is a complete prognostication, but I think that once the ACC money starts rolling in, they'll loosen up on the tip-off to final buzzer ads, since we just won't need that revenue. The football team was a big drain for years, from what I gather, and having a bball team bankrolling a major athletic department is not a sound business model, so we really need those ads, for better or worse.

Oy. I commend your glass half-full take on that. To have an athletic department propped up by ads for some no-name women's clothing store in Carousel Center...yikes.

Could they at least replace some of the canned (and not revenue-generating) music with band songs? Or ask Mr. Excitement not to refer to dunks as "the shove from above"?

Appreciate your insight.

If I had it my way, they would just have SSS play every time instead of piping in music...especially considering our audio system kinda sucks. SSS would prefer that as well.

Any suggested e-mail address of someone at the Dome who could stand to hear it from a somewhat disappointed yet tactful season ticketholder?

I sent you a message/conversation thingy.

Gross reads his email. You might have to send it a few times, and it might get filtered out with everything going on now, but it's worth a try. All the emails are on suathletics.com
