we have to play flawlessly. Listening to coach D Smith on the radio this AM he said that ND defense is similar to MD so the kids don't have to prepare for a whole new type of D. He also said that what we did wrong against MD is fixable - red zone efficiency & player discipline - and they can focus on that this week. The only negative was that the ND players are bigger & faster than MD players so we have to play much better if we have any chance in winning. All in all D Smith seemed especially upbeat regarding RB production and OL run blocking.
From PS - Poor execution and even poorer discipline highlighted the Orange’s failures to finish its otherwise smooth drives. When asked why SU stalled out in the red zone so often, head coach Scott Shafer kept it simple. “Because we didn’t finish getting the ball over the goal line,” was Shafer’s response.
