This details game where we started off slow either on offense and or on defense
This is where we are allowing approximately twice the points or scoring less than half the points of the pace of play for that game

13-5 first 8 min UVA

9-1 Colgate

17-4 Seattle

11-0 to start OSU Loss

22-7 PSU to start LOSS

5pts first 4 Oak

7pts in first 7 min North Florida’s

5pts 1st 4.5 mins ND

11pts in first 12 mins UVA

6pts in first 8 min BC

14-8 to start vs VT 5.5

5-5 vs Pitt 5 min

15-6 Clemson in first 7:30

5-in first 5 minutes Wake

20-11 in first 10.5 NCST

Four points in first four minutes FSU

Eight points in first six minutes Louisville

20-11 in first 10 minutes Georgia Tech

18 of our 27 games and this is nothing new I did a post about this last year and probably once or twice in years past it’s almost every single game

Had eight points the first eight minutes. Then the last 12 had 29. That’s 2 1/2 times better scoring rate the last 12 minutes than the first eight

Why not use the rate over all 40 minutes? Both per game and over a season? Seems typical for a team that is doing just enough to have a winning record to have long droughts, that's been SU the last 2 years. You never see teams pressing from the start of a game either, so maybe a lower scoring rate is typical for most teams in the first X minutes, until both teams execute better over time? Interesting data.

Because the point is slow starts so you have to compare the start of the game versus how the game shakes out pretty simple. More and more opponents our scoring at twice the rate of the game in the first 5 mins. This is thread is more about our offense than our defense though.
But getting off to the slow starts is if not one problem our offense then it’s our offense is really behind game pace.

We've won the first quarter 15 times in 28 games. We are 12-3 in those game,s 4-9 in the others.

I agree whole heartedly with the OP. It's like groundhog day. At the first TV timeout we almost always are averaging less than a point per minute. I constantly text my friends about it. About the 13 minute mark left in the 1st half we finally start playing offense. It comical at this point. It has nothing to with our defense or who is leading.

I am speaking about the first 4to 8 minutes so then we pick it up and that’s why we want some of the first 10
