Can't help to notice the similarities between these two when watching AA's highlights. I think Erv will be drafted in the top 2 rounds when its his time

A couple years ago I remember watching his high school highlight video and thinking that I loved the way he ran.

I don't think the competition was grade A, but the way he avoided tackles without any acrobatic Barry Sanders moves caught my eye. He had smooth and subtle moves that were very impressive, especially when he got into the secondary.

Erv is going to need to put on another 15 good pounds to be able to play like Abdullah.

If Erv Phillips is a 2nd Rd pick when he leaves, I don't think you'd hear anyone around here complaining. That's a long shot though.

Why?

Why?

If Erv went in the 2nd round this year, that would be one of the top 6 RB's in the country.

I like Erv, but does anyone truly think Erv is by far the best RB on our own team while he is here?

Awesome change of pace guy and think he is going to be a pretty good collegiate player. But, I would be very surprised if he is in the running for some major awards and getting top 2 rounds consideration.

I think I misunderstood. I was thinking by the end of his time here. I do think he is probably the best RB/HB on our team right now.

Why not him though? I don't think a lot of people had Pugh as a first rounder after his true freshman year?

Unlikely, sure. But the speed, vision, and moves are all there or show enough promise to think he could be that guy. It's probably size that is his biggest issue.

Purely for the reasons Timkay99 stated. He'd have to be a Top 5 player at his position in the country. I hope to high heavens that he plays well enough the next few years to be a Rd 2 pick, but that's a really high ask. Not saying it's not possible, just unlikely.

Size is his biggest issue and I don't think he is a true RB either.

I think his ultimate role in the NFL would be as a slot WR type who can occasionally line up in the backfield. The elite at that type of role typically go in the 3rd to 5th round. Those guys just don't go in the top 2 rounds.

Right now is the key word to best RB on Syracuse (I personally have McFarlane, whom I think is a FA type). Obviously a big name is coming (and maybe more).

The fun part is that there are a lot of guys entering their sophomore years who you could argue this about. For me, Zaire Franklin and Steve Ishmael are the 2 guys from that class with that type of potential (top 2 rounds).
