Eskridge may go pro

I'll be shocked if ends up going I can't imagine him getting a grade higher than a 5th rounder from the committee at this stage.

If he goes, best of luck to him, but it would be infinitely better for him to stay, get a year stronger and continue to develop his instincts. But he definitely does have some solid ball skills and a knack for right place, right time kind of player.

Also though he was just a soph so he had 2 more years of eligibility left?

He better have an astounding bowl game performance.

He should watch the 30 for 30 "Broke" before making a decision to leave early.

Doing it to provide for your family is the right reason to do it but so many of these guys go pro and end up putting their families in a worse spot 5-10 years down the road due to off the field stuff - poor decision making most importantly.

Correct, he is a redshirt Soph this season, so he has 2 more years of eligibility after 2013. He would be wise to use at least 1 of those years before heading to the NFL.

Probably just pointing out that he will be in the NFL at some point to impress the ladies. Could be as simple as that.

I agree with many of you. If he goes this year I think he is undrafted and wouldn't make a team as FA because he is not ready (yeah that matters in the NFL draft). Next year he could be a 2nd day pick if he continues to improve.

I just hope he is getting good information from people he can trust that only have his best interests in mind. It's his life and I'll be happy for him with whatever decision he makes. I'd love to have him stay but again, it's his life and I'll continue to root for him to have success.

I do that all the time... Not sure they believe me though :)

Do you also keep a book on your coffee table entitled "living with a large package" next to print outs of beach front condo's you are "looking to buy"?

The only redshirt Soph's who should be making the jump are the truly elite players in the country. Eskridge, while good, is not one of the best in the business. he needs to come back for his sake, are we definitely need him back.

Remember reading comments very similar when Chandler decided to leave early. If Durrell grades out in a spot that it makes sense - he should go.

Did Alec test the waters prior to his senior season?

Like his future potential, but I highly doubt he grades out in the 1st or 2nd round area. Not yet anyway.

Nope - he had to recover from shoulder surgery immediately after the season ended...

I tend to forget how beat up he was at any given time based on his on field production for us. How has his recovery been going in Houston?

Ah, it was a hamstring pull - pretty sure he was in great shape 4 weeks after it happened, but being designated to the IR when he was meant he was done for the year...

That said, he pulled the same hamstring in camp right before the season began last year (the reason he missed the NW game), it bothered him enough through the year that he was ginger with it, so having a full season to get it recovered can't hurt him :)

Fair enough. I thought the IR placement indicated it was something more serious. Hopefully the new coaching staff down there will give him a chance to prove himself next season.

Expecting to see him on the sidelines with the team for the bowl game - he's pumped they're playing in Houston -- he called last night with "great news" that they were coming to his stadium! :)

Look for the Giants to grab him if he does make the jump. He will be missed as much as Spruill.:bat:

The smiley face makes it really confusing to decipher what you're insinuating in this post. Are you saying we won't miss Spruill? Or we will miss both a lot? Why are the Giants going to grab him?
