Skipper is no Mark Shapiro.
He is terrible.
Wasn't Shapiro the guy Dan Snyder hired to run amusement parks?

Yes but his tenure as President of ESPN was wildly successful.Wasn't Shapiro the guy Dan Snyder hired to run amusement parks?

Shapiro did Sportscentury, brought the NBA back, and wasn’t ultra PC.
Skipper has killed morale for non-CAA talent at that company l.
Ever since Schwartz’ botched hit job on Bernie and SU Hoops, how could anyone want to see them survive? Good riddance.
Maybe this is a generational thing. If you only follow what you know you like, you miss things that you don't know are there. That, along with the personalities, was what was good about sportcenter. You might see something you'd miss otherwise. I'm curious how old you are. I like Van Pelt but never thought he was as dynamic as some of the guys that preceeded him. I remember the days when Patrick, Olbermann, Kenny Mayne (his current cameos out west don't count), etc. made watching highlights fun.For me - they could have Scott Van Pelt (my favorite personality) on the 6PM sportscenter and I'm still probably not watching. I honestly just think the whole idea of sportscenter is pointless these days. You as a fan just do not need to wait until 6pm or 11pm to find out what you want to know

My cousin works for ESPiN, won an Emmy last year or the year before for the cool graphics he does for MNF and College Football. Hopefully he survived the cut, he felt pretty confident after the last go round that he would survive the next one as he already knew it was coming. Need to call him.
Because like us, they have families. I've been laid off before due to a round of cuts. Not a pleasant feeling when you don't know where your next check is coming from and how your responsibilities are going to be taken care of.
Was there a story to be covered then? Yes. Was it covered fairly by ESPN? No. This was NOT Penn State. But Bernie Fine's family didn't matter, as long as they kept collecting a paycheck from the home office while trying to play catch up in the ratings game. That's BS I can't forgive them for, and will happily send my viewing hours to the other sources that will surely replace them.
It definitely has. The anchors made it what it was. There used to be genuine wit. It wasn't just about knowing the results of games. I enjoyed watching highlights of sports I didn't even like because of the anchors. Now it seems like it's mostly sportscasters trying to replicate what they saw a generation ago. The fun is gone. I sound ancient saying this (I'm 41), but you were probably too young to enjoy what I would comsider the golden era of espn and sportcenter.Could be. I'm 27 and I am sure I'm just accustomed to seeing things come across "the bottom line" during a game and that's good enough for me.
I used to LIVE for sportscenter but now after, say, an NFL sunday I'll go to their app and just check the scores or go to their fantasy app. Among my friends ESPN is just their website and live games. Sportscenter has lost so much luster
He still has his job, very happy to hear that. Kids too talented. My cousin works for ESPiN, won an Emmy last year or the year before for the cool graphics he does for MNF and College Football. To this day, Mark Schwartz cites the SU/Fine saga in his ESPN bio:

I think ESPN needs to ship their best sportcenter anchors to LA and fill most of their other shows with talking heads that think way too highly of themselves. Wait...
Give me these 2 guys all day long. In the late 80s they were my go to, much better than ESPN.It The anchors made it what it was. There used to be genuine wit. It wasn't just about knowing the results of games. I enjoyed watching highlights of sports I didn't even like because of the anchors.

This part in a bio is even accusatory in the way its written, "broken major news stories such as the sexual child abuse scandal at Syracuse, while also covering Joe Paterno’s final days at Penn State." I understand the implied association, but the case against Bernie was dropped and the one against SU and JB didn't even make it that far. The case against PSU and Joe Pa was tried and won! Why is the SU item the "sexual child abuse scandal" and the PSU association is "Joe Paterno's final days at Penn State"?You tryin to tip me over the edge!?! ;-) He should add a line for having the most punchable face to his bio. It was a case of ESPN trying to play grown up investigative journalist. Instead they did a face plant that literally ruined 1 mans life and stained SUs reputation. Add to that their programming generally sux since they dropped hockey and I shall shed no tears for the world wide leader, whatever comes of them.

There must be a feedback link, or general comment link, somewhere on that page. Time to straighten that out.I mean, WT intercourse, seriously? How does he get away with that? That is far worse than George O'Leary, Brian Williams level of deception. It's slander.
I'd send that to antarctica. So you'd keep the debacle known as "The Sux", I mean, "The Six" in CT then?
Never saw them. I'll have to take your word. I grew up on Patrick and Olbermann. They'll always be my favorite team with Kenny Mayne as my favorite anchor.Give me these 2 guys all day long. In the late 80s they were my go to, much better than ESPN.

Also, Merry Christmas. they couldn't wait a month?Nor is it something to celebrate that people are losing their jobs, regardless of your feelings on some corporate entity. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a good job now?
