Hate to be the bearer of bad tidings but here goes ...

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...aid-planning-to-eliminate-as-many-as-350-jobs

I am still optimistic about the ACC - I think it is getting better and every program can help by becoming more competitive - what I see happening is an ACC cable network in 2017. Hope your favorite team makes it to a bowl game this year despite the problems - the only "bad" game they played was the 2nd half against USF.

Okay so a bunch of no names behind the scenes people lost their jobs. And ?

Boy I cannot wait for you to get laid off so I can say "Okay so some no name lost his job. Meh."

Just saying. Haven't heard or seen any name names ESPN personalities being laid off.

Right, so these people clearly matter far less. I'm sure that'll make it easier for the families they're trying to support.

"I got laid off today, but don't worry honey, I'm just a nobody who works behind the scenes."

You think that's because ESPN isn't announcing the layoffs until WEDNESDAY?

I didn't read or see that. But you would have to think those name names would not be working currently if they were about to be laid off.

Hope Chris Berman is on that list at least.

I hate to be cocky but I don't think I'm in no danger of being laid off. Helps to be in an under the radar position.

You didn't bother to read the article, did ya?

Walt Disney Co.’s ESPN sports network, confronting rising programming costs and a loss of viewers, plans to eliminate as many as 350 positions, about 4.3 percent of its workforce, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

The cuts will be announced to employees as early as Wednesday, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing the matter because it isn’t public.

Here's another one you can ignore at your leisure:

http://thebiglead.com/2015/10/20/espn-layoffs-begin-tomorrow-350-employees-six-figure-earners/

ESPN’s reported layoffs are set to begin tomorrow, a source told The Big Lead. The layoffs will cut around 350 jobs, focusing on upper level employees. (Bloomberg reported the same figure.)

Every job with a six-figure salary or more was reviewed as part of the process. The company is flying in extra HR people from Burbank to handle it. Per the source, “it’s gonna be ugly.”

Berman has been there since Day One.

But he's still the one that needs to go the most.

Chris Berman, Stephen A Smith, Curt Shilling, Mike Greenberg, and most of the NFL live Analyst's.

When you get older, you will realize that you are never happy when someone loses their job. No matter who they are. They have kids in college, etc.

I despise ESPN because of their recent coverage of stuff involving my teams Syracuse/Patriots.
With that said I hate hearing this as the people losing their jobs aren't going to be the people on the top of pyramid it is going to be the support staff and the people behind the scenes doing the grunt work.
Man it sucks to hear this. ESPN is feeling the crunch of their profits going down because the cost of live sporting rights going up thru the roof.

There's no way you're a real person.

And yet many of those same people he listed have been subjects of hate and disdain on this board and I'm sure posters could care less if they got laid off in reality. A bunch of faux sadness going on.

Everything you post is terrible. It's truly an incredible feat.

There are people on this site and friends who can be in that pool, the place is filthy with SU grads. The poster in question besides being a lot of things failed to connect the dots on that one.
